Flying Over Orange Groves: Inspired by Soarin' Around the World . This is probably the strongest citrus candle I've ever smelt. as we all know, citrus has a real hard time performing in candles/perfumery, as it's so volatile. It's probably so strong because, along with the sweet orange candy-like fragrance, they clearly add mango to the mix, and maybe a touch of vanilla, as no candlemaker can resist. It smells nice, but the moment I get remotely near it when lit, I can detect a plasticky note that makes me wonder if it's a defect in manufacturing. But otherwise, the performance is impressive, and it smells nice at a distance. 6/10

It s probably so strong because, along with the sweet orange candy-like fragrance, they clearly add mango to the mix, and maybe a touch of vanilla, as no candlemaker can resist. And humorously, they need to be vague in referencing official Disney locations and intellectual property even auto-censoring their customer reviews on their site , as Disney has trademarked near everything.

A lengthy review of Magic Candle Company - whose products are meant to smell like Walt Disney World

If you've ever been to WDW, you'll know that many parts of the experience there, whether it's in resort hotels, park shops, or park attractions/rides, have to do with smell. These products try to capture these smells, and a few other products attempt to capture the "vibe" of certain other parts of the resort. And humorously, they need to be vague in referencing official Disney locations and intellectual property (even auto-censoring their customer reviews on their site), as Disney has trademarked near everything.

I stumbled upon the company from reddit, I think, probably r/DisneyWorld, specifically because I heard the the company makes candles that supposedly smell like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. "Water ride" smell is one of my favorite smells. they say it's actually the smell of "brominated" water. Anyway, upon learning this I immediately put in an order for their Pirate Life candle, which I review below. Since then, I've tested many others of their scents.

I'm a Disney fanatic, and I realize most of you probably aren't, so I've tried to provide some contextual links below.

NOTE: I've only experienced their candles and wax melts. It's important to know that they use way more fragrance oil in their waxes than most other companies, and it's easily noticeable when touching the candles' wax or the wax melting cubes; the wax is much more oily and crumbly than competitors.

DISCLAIMER: I'm very picky with scents. My assessments are on the harsher side. You might find the customer reviews on the site more useful.

Pirate's Life/Splash: Inspired by Pirates of the Caribbean attraction or water-based "dark rides" in general. Supposedly the two scents are different, but I couldn't smell the difference. (And even more frustrating, they also have some scents in their library which they acknowledge are identical to others that they sell. But they claim these are not.) After all the hubbub, I didn't like this one. I doesn't smell like brominated water. What does it smell like to me? Dank musty stone. Poetically, you might say "river stones". Bluntly, you might say "moist cellar". It's not horrible, and I can see how someone might like it. In the end, it's an interesting technical feat that they captured this smell in a candle. 2/10

(Has anyone smelled Xyrena Dark Ride ? Supposedly it's another fragrance meant to smell like a water ride.)

Animation: Inspired by the Art of Animation Resort . I've stayed at this resort, but I don't recall the lobby (usually the part of resorts that are "scented") smelling like anything. Official notes and user reviews would have you believe that this smells like mango, but I get nothing of the sort. I get generic fruits, maybe red fruits. If forced to choose, I'd guess raspberry. Performance is pretty low compared to this company's other products. 5/10

Banana Rum: Inspired by the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Evidently the ride incorporates banana smell into it? I never knew. (And honestly it really makes me wonder if reviewers on the site are just overly influenced by the site's verbiage.) Anyway, I'm an actual rum enthusiast, but I didn't have any delusions that this would smell like rum. I don't even get any booziness from it, which I've smelled in candles before. However, it's good - it smells like banana candy. When's the last time you smelled a banana candle? Performance is OK. 6/10

Key West: Supposedly inspired by a south Florida vacation, but more probably meant to invoke the Old Key West Resort at WDW (which I've never been to). This is luscious and luxurious. Incredibly blended. The final result is sweet, buttery, waxy, and fruity. Various fruits are in the notes list, but to me they combine to what reminds me of papaya and coconut. The creaminess manifests as a "Playdough" sort of note, but in a good way. The performance is monstrous. I can smell my 3 inch diameter candle when it's unlit nearby. 8/10

Tiki Terrace: Probably inspired by Trader Sam's Tiki Terrace at The Polynesian Resort . This scent, to me, uses the Key West blend as a base, and puts more tropical fruit on top. It's a bit brighter than Key West, and also its performance is a bit less. 7/10

Caribbean Resort: Inspired by the Caribbean Beach Resort. This also smells almost identical to Key West; when unlit, the wax looks and smells the same as it. When lit, smelled up close, I can make out some lime zest and florals that manage to pierce through the butteriness and Playdough. At a distance, it's the same as Key West. Performance is a beast, though. 8/10

Century: Inspired by the Pop Century Resort . I've stayed in Pop Century before, but don't recall how the lobby smells. The reviews on the site laud this fragrance for being a picture-perfect replica of the lobby's scent, with "lemongrass" being mentioned over and over. While smelling this one "cold" with no notes to reference, I couldn't pick out anything specific. If you told me lemongrass was in here, I'd counter with "artificial lemongrass". This whole thing has a synthetic, plasticky feel to me, like the scent reviewed above, but moreso. I also pick up some sharp jasmine. Supposedly the other official note to this scent, other than lemongrass, is green tea; green tea is often paired with jasmine, so maybe that's what they did here as well. The performance is extremely impressive, and a plus if you like this scent. 2/10

Polynesian: Inspired by the Polynesian Resort . This is another green tea, but this is much better. It has very much of a spa feel. The note paired with green tea here is bamboo, and to me it's a leafy grassiness. There's also a bit of fuzziness here, if you can understand that. like a musk. or even must, or tannins. Like the skins of white grapes. The reviews on the product's site once again applaud this as smelling like the Polynesian's lobby, which I don't remember having a scent. This stuff invokes more of a "quiet expensive spa with white robes" than a "lush, rustic hotel in the south Pacific" . 6/10

Walter's Office: Supposedly inspired by Walt Disney's Office . Walt was an infamous smoker, so they made this candle smell like tobacco. Unfortunately, they used an aromachemical which I'm fairly sure is benzaldehyde, making this candle have the "cherry tobacco" smell that just about every masculine tobacco perfume has. And I don't like it. But that's my personal experience with this smell. Some might like it. 4/10

Contemporary: Inspired by the Contemporary Resort (though they aknowledge that this one is the same as 3 others of their scents. Why??) Ok, now this is starting to make more sense. The reviews of this on the site declare that this smells like the lobby of the Contemporary. And though I don't recall the smell of that lobby, I have smelled this exact scent in hotel lobbies and shopping malls. I would describe it as "fresh green", though not quite as grassy as Flying Over Africa below. It has a base of green tea, with green leaves as well (maybe violet leaf?). There is a "fresh spicy" accord, which usually means cardamom. There's also a bright fresh herbal quality, perhaps cilantro. Maybe bamboo as well. There's a fresh wateriness about the whole thing. I'm actually not a fan of this at all, but I know many folks are. Performance is very good. 6/10

Pineapple Whip: Inspired by the Dole Whip . This is honestly just a pineapple scented candle. It doesn't necessarily smell like a Dole Whip (not sure how you would do that), but it's nice. Performance is pretty impressive. But honestly, I think I've smelled better pineapple candles from the Marshall's/TJ Maxx discount aisle. 5/10

Flying Over Africa: Inspired by Soarin' Around the World . This stuff is so good that I bought a larger size. It's a green and grassy scent. Sharp and fresh, even watery. Makes me think of a rainforest, though I'm sure rainforests don't smell like this. When concentrating, there's even a slight fruitiness. banana maybe? Performance is very good. 8/10

Overall opinion: Though I disliked a good few of their products, I'm pretty impressed with this company. The oil content in their candles/wax seems to be near the top of the industry, and the performance shows. Yet they're still affordable. And their scents are unique, mostly innovative, and special.

My gripes involve their marketing. While some of their scents are based off of actual smells from Disney locations, just as many (or more?) are arbitrary scents that they've invoked Disney institutions to pair with, because they know that Disney die-hards (like yours truly) will buy a product based on nostalgia/emotion alone.

Perhaps related to this, as mentioned above, is that they sell several scents under different labels that they acknowledge are the same product. I don't know what to be more cynical about: that they do this at all, or that customers buy them. The review section of each scent's page should be read with great skepticism. But so should my reviews! Find your own balanced opinion between the two before buying. This deal is a great way to sample their scents.

Anyway, I recommend these products to Disney fans and non-fans alike, for the reasons mentioned above. As of this posting, they currently have a discount code on their front page. Enjoy!

NOTE: I've only experienced their candles and wax melts. It's important to know that they use way more fragrance oil in their waxes than most other companies, and it's easily noticeable when touching the candles' wax or the wax melting cubes; the wax is much more oily and crumbly than competitors.

Reviews for "Create a magical ambiance for less with our discount offer from Magic Candle Company."

1. Jane - 1 star - I bought a few candles from Magic Candle Company during their discount sale, and I have to say, I am highly disappointed with my purchase. The candles had a very weak and almost non-existent scent throw. I even tried burning them in a smaller, enclosed space to see if that would help, but it didn't. The candles also burned unevenly, creating a tunnel in the middle and wasting a significant amount of wax. Overall, I would not recommend purchasing candles from this company, even if they are on sale.
2. Mark - 2 stars - I had high hopes for the Magic Candle Company's discount sale, but unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. The candles I received had a very artificial and overpowering scent that gave me a headache whenever I lit them. Additionally, the wicks were too short, making it difficult to light the candles properly. Even after trimming the wicks multiple times, they would still drown in wax and become nearly impossible to relight. I was really hoping for a better experience, but I won't be purchasing from this company again.
3. Sarah - 1 star - My recent purchase from the Magic Candle Company's discount sale was a complete waste of money. The candles arrived poorly packaged, with some of them even broken. The scents of the candles were also very disappointing and hardly noticeable when burned. I reached out to their customer service to complain about the broken candles, but never received a response. This lack of customer service only added to my overall disappointment with the company. Save your money and avoid this discount sale if you're looking for quality candles.
