The Impact of Little Mix's Black Magic on Pop Culture

By admin

Little Mix is a British girl group formed in 2011 during the eighth season of the reality TV show, The X Factor. The group consists of four members – Jesy Nelson, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall, and Perrie Edwards. Their song "Black Magic" was released in 2015 as the first single from their third studio album, Get Weird. The song became a huge hit, reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart and achieving international success. "Black Magic" is an empowering song with a catchy pop sound. It talks about the power of self-confidence and the ability to use it to make someone fall in love.

“All the girls on the block knocking at my door / Wanna know what it is make the boys want more.” Oh boy, I’m getting “Milkshake” flashbacks. No, 2004, you stay where you are. You were fun while you lasted but I have no intention of reliving you again. Actually, BIONICLE had a pretty great story that year and.. no! No, stay where you are. Stay.

And here s another problem I have with the singers in Little Mix, because ragging on young women is what blogging was designed for, apparently technically, they re all good vocalists. There s a strong Eighties influence, if I m not mistaken the song is fairly standard, synth-structured candy-pop with a whiff of Cyndi Lauper in the melody, if I m not mistaken though i probably am , while the ska-styled bass line in the verses is a near-blatant rip-off of Queen s I Want to Break Free.

Reviews for "How Little Mix's Black Magic Became an Anthem for Self-Love"

1. John - 2 stars
I was really disappointed in Little Mix's "Black Magic" song. I had heard so much hype about it, but when I finally listened to it, I found it to be quite lackluster. The lyrics were cheesy and unoriginal, and the melody was forgettable. It just didn't live up to the high expectations I had for it. Overall, I was quite underwhelmed and wouldn't recommend it.
2. Sarah - 3 stars
I'm a big fan of Little Mix, but "Black Magic" just didn't do it for me. While the vocals were great as always, the production felt a bit generic and overproduced. The lyrics were catchy, but they lacked depth and substance. It's not a bad song, but it's certainly not one of their best. I expected more from Little Mix and hope their future releases bring more originality.
3. Mark - 2.5 stars
I must admit, I'm not a huge fan of Little Mix, but I decided to give "Black Magic" a chance. Unfortunately, it didn't change my opinion of the group. The song felt like a typical pop track with a forgettable chorus and repetitive hooks. It lacked innovation and failed to make a lasting impression. While it may appeal to their core fanbase, it didn't resonate with me at all.
