A Brush with Danger: The Thrilling Adventures of the Kraken Mascot Strokes

By admin

The Kraken mascot is a popular figure used by various sports teams and organizations as a symbol of strength, power, and aggression. The Kraken is a mythical sea creature often depicted as a giant octopus or squid, and its association with water and the ocean also represents fluidity and agility. One key aspect of the Kraken mascot is its ability to strike fear into the hearts of opponents. The Kraken is known for its powerful tentacles, which it uses to capture and subdue its prey. This aspect of the Kraken represents the team or organization's ability to overpower and dominate their adversaries. The Kraken mascot also represents adaptability and flexibility.

To Buford's knowledge, the only team that has a troll for a mascot is Trinity Christian College, an NAIA school in Illinois.

We talk about the kraken as living in the theater of the mind, said Katie Townsend, the Kraken s senior vice president of marketing and communications. Leading up to the reveal, the Kraken released a video of three children video chatting with local Seattle sports players such as Paul Sewald of the Mariners and Breanna Stewart of the Storm about what the team s mascot should be.

The Kraken mascot also represents adaptability and flexibility. Its ability to move and thrive in water, a constantly changing and unpredictable environment, showcases the team's ability to adapt to different situations and overcome challenges. This can be particularly important in sports, where teams often face unexpected obstacles during games.

What is the Kraken's mascot? Explaining the meaning behind 'Buoy' the sea-troll

Step aside, Gritty. There's a new, irregular mascot on the NHL scene.

Ahead of the 2022-23 season, the Kraken introduced their first mascot in team history. May we present to you, Buoy the sea-troll.

The mascot pays tribute to the Fremont Troll, a well-known art structure located underneath the Fremont Bridge in Seattle.

Oh Buoy, this is going to be good! 😉

According to Lamont Buford, the Kraken's vice president of entertainment experience and production, the team received hundreds of ideas for the mascot, but eventually decided on Buoy.

"We looked at all the characters in this area, and we wanted to make sure that what we brought was going to be unique," Buford told ESPN's Ryan S. Clark. We didn't want to be like anybody else. When you look at a lot of mascots in sports, you can tell which mascots that were generated from looking at another mascot. We wanted to make sure we avoided that."

Seattle had options on the table, but also ruled out a few. The team did not want to use an octopus as the Red Wings currently have Al the Octopus as its mascot. The club also did not want to use a kraken as the mascot because no one is actually sure what it looks like.

"We talk about the kraken as living in the theater of the mind," said Katie Townsend, the Kraken's senior vice president of marketing and communications. "It's a mysterious beast. We don't want to be a cartoon brand which is why we have not revealed the full kraken. It was a fairly obvious choice that we would not go with a kraken, but would do a deep dive led by Lamont and team to examine what is the right mascot for the city, for the fans and for the brand."

Buoy is getting his first taste of playoff action. After an underwhelming inaugural season, Seattle turned things around in its second year in the league and made the postseason for the first time in club history.

Here is more information on Buoy the mascot and the meaning behind him.

Another characteristic of the Kraken mascot is its mysterious nature. The deep sea where the Kraken resides is largely unexplored, and the creature itself remains elusive and enigmatic. This aspect adds an air of intrigue and mystique to the team or organization, making them more captivating to fans and followers. Additionally, the Kraken mascot can also symbolize teamwork and collaboration. The creature's multiple tentacles working together in harmony represent the importance of unity and collective effort. This aspect is especially pertinent in team sports, where success often hinges on the ability of individuals to work together towards a common goal. Overall, the Kraken mascot strokes embody a variety of qualities that make it a powerful and compelling symbol for sports teams and organizations. Its association with strength, adaptability, mystery, and teamwork captures the essence of what many teams aspire to be and resonates with fans and supporters on a deep level..
