Exploring the Powers of the Gretel Curse Breaker

By admin

Gretel Curse Breaker is a fictional character who appears in various fantasy novels and stories. She is often depicted as a strong and independent female protagonist with a knack for breaking curses and solving mystical puzzles. The character's origins can be traced back to the classic fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel, in which the two siblings encounter a wicked witch in a gingerbread house. However, in modern adaptations, Gretel has expanded beyond her traditional role as the helpless victim and has become a powerful and resourceful heroine. As a curse breaker, Gretel possesses a unique set of skills and abilities that allow her to unravel the dark magic plaguing various realms. She is often portrayed as a clever and intuitive problem solver, using her keen intellect and wit to outsmart her adversaries.

Mintaro’s art is cute and simple, containing a few great scenes including a classic underwater Yuri kiss. While I personally find the character designs a bit too similar to each other they are distinct enough in their clothing and hair so that I can recognize who is who. They also feel appropriately adorable with treading too far into unnecessary “moe” taste. There is blessedly little lewdness or service, which often feels out of place in school stories and would detract from the rich plot.

Although it is based on canonical information, the actual name is a conjecture and may be supplanted at any time by additional information released from canonical sources.

Lily Fairy Tale -Little Mermaid met Hansel and Gretel- is a doujinshi by mintaro. It is a work in the Lily Fairy Tale series, which is set in a school attended by girls destined to live the lives of characters from Fairy Tales. One such girl is Marie, who bears the curse of the “Little Mermaid” (Hans Christian Andersen’s original, not the Disney cartoon). Because of her fate, she is rendered unable to speak, so most of the story is told through her thoughts. Soon she meets another girl, Hansel, who she is convinced is the key to breaker her curse and defying her fate. Unfortunately, Hansel’s partner Grettle is unwilling to accept Marie’s advances on Hansel.

I applaud this story for its creative setting. While Yuri set in a girls’ academy is certainly NOTHING new, mintaro’s take on classic fairy tales is intriguing. The setting also gives way to excellent character motivations and personalities. The central and classic theme of the story is the failed defiance of one’s own destiny.

As one attempts to run from their fate they invite in ever closer. Marie attempts to be free of the Little Mermaid’s fate by succeeding in love but is ultimately wounded by Hansel. Similarly, Hansel is unable to be with Marie because of her fated devotion and dependence on Gretel. Unfortunately, other themes of independence and taking one’s fate into their own hands become muddled in the story and are only clearly seen in the frankly unnecessary epilogue.

Still, minatro succeeds in creating an exciting world with compelling and understandable characters. While not a tragedy this story is by no means a fluffy “happily ever after,” which works perfectly for the characters and themes in the story.

Lily Fairy Tale -Little Mermaid met Hansel and Gretel- is an engaging Yuri manga with interesting characters, a compelling setting, and a great plot. It delicately walks lines of sorrow and tragedy without becoming a melodrama or being overly tragic. I look forward to reading the other Lily Fairy Tale series, Rapunzel and Sleeping Beauty.
