Eric Chien ‘shaking’ as he’s crowned Ultimate Magician in Britain’s Got Talent special

Eric Chein was overwhelmed with emotion after he was crowned the Ultimate Magician in a Britain’s Got Talent special.

During Sunday’s spellbinding spin-off previous illusionists that have graced the series competed for the whopping £50,000 prize.

The Witch, Richard Jones – who was the first magician to win in 2016 – and many more put out all the stops to impress judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Penn Jillete.

Colin Cloud, Marc Spelmann, Kevin James, Tony, Magical Bones, Mandy Muden, and The Clairvoyants also completed the line-up.

But it was America’s Got Talent star Eric who left the judges in awe with his incredible card routine.

‘It’s just so subtle and so perfect, you are exceptional,’ Amanda began.

‘You are a monster in the magic world, in a good way.’

David added: ‘It was an absolutely brilliant idea, perfectly executed. It was like a work of art. So simple and yet so complex.’

Near the end of the show, host Stephen Mulhern – who filled in for Ant and Dec – revealed that The Witch, Magical Bones and Eric made it to the final three, but it was Eric who reigned supeme.

‘I am still shaking this is incredible,’ he enthused after he was declared winner.

‘I am so glad to be able to come out and perform again.’

Viewers also took to social media to congratulate the star, with one writing: ‘Eric was in a totally different league to the others. Well deserved win.’

‘It wasn’t even close, Eric Chien was the best magician by miles,’ another added.

‘Literally the only act that was world class. Ask any magician who was good and they’ll say just 1 act. Eric Chien,’ a third person wrote.

A nervous Eric Chien revealed he was keenly aware of the magic standard set by last season’s “America’s Got Talent” champion Shin Lim. “That really puts the pressure on me,” Chien said before his audition on Tuesday’s “AGT” premiere. “I’m following in the footsteps of one of the best in the world.”

Judge Simon Cowell asked the contestant point-blank if he was better than Shin Lim. Chien didn’t answer. Instead he let an amazing performance do his talking for him.

Eric Chien’s Magic Revealed & Clues Explained on ‘America’s Got Talent’

Eric Chien returns to the America’s Got Talent stage on Tuesday, September 3 to compete in the live semifinals round of competition. The magician has stunned the judges, audience, and viewers at home with his close-up tricks, which, to the untrained eye, really do seem to be magic.

Although it takes some of the fun out of watching a magic act once you know how the magician is executing his tricks, many America’s Got Talent fans have been completely stumped by Eric Chien’s acts and therefore want to know just how he’s been getting away with the performances he’s produced on stage. If you’re one of those people, here’s what we were able to uncover:

One of Eric's most famous performances was at the FISM World Championship of Magic in 2018, where he won first place in the Close-Up Magic category. His act, which involved the transformation of playing cards into different objects, was hailed as groundbreaking and innovative. Eric's success at the FISM Championship catapulted him into the international magic scene, making him a sought-after performer for corporate events, television shows, and magic conventions around the world.

Eric Chien’s Magic Tricks Have Been Explained by Other Card Trick Magicians Online

Youtube account CardShuffler99, who has over 189,000 subscribers on Youtube, has broken down the skill behind several of Eric Chien’s acts. Before explaining the magic tricks Chien used in his audition, they preface their “reveal” by saying there’s no proof that their ideas about Chien’s magic tricks are actually what he’s executing, and that everything in the debunking video are just theories. The complete 10-minute explanation video is viewable above. To explain the color-changing cards, CardShuffler99 suggests that the top half of Chien’s deck (the part he reveals to the audience) is red cards, while the bottom half is a hidden stack of blue cards. By doing deals and bottom deals on either side of the table’s string divider, Chien would be able to use sleight of hand and the top of his act to set up half of the table as blue cards and the other half as red cards. As for Chien’s coin tricks, executed during the judge cuts round, CardShuffler99 says that is also sleight of hand at work, but that there were likely magnetic coins and shells in use to aid Chien in the close-up magic act. He adds that, when Chien first performed the act on Asia’s Got Talent, the microphone picked up the sound of the magnets clicking together throughout the act. That complete breakdown of the judge cuts performance is available on Youtube here.

Reviews for "The Spellbinding Talents of Eric Chien: Mastering the Art of Magic."

1. John - 1 star
I was extremely hyped up to watch Eric Chien's magic performance, but I was completely disappointed. His tricks were predictable, and I could see right through the illusion. It seemed like he was relying more on flashy moves and distractions than actual magic skills. I also found his stage presence to be lacking. Overall, it felt like a waste of time and money.
2. Sarah - 2 stars
I had high hopes for Eric Chien's magic show, but unfortunately, it fell flat for me. While some of his tricks were impressive, they lacked originality and creativity. It felt like I had seen similar tricks performed by other magicians before. Additionally, Chien's delivery and stage presence were lacking. There was no wow-factor or captivating performance that would make me want to recommend his show to others.
3. Alex - 1 star
Eric Chien's performance was underwhelming to say the least. The tricks he performed were outdated and easily explained. I could see the mechanics and techniques behind his illusions, which ultimately ruined the magic for me. His show lacked the innovation and excitement that I have seen in other magicians. Overall, it was quite a disappointing experience.
4. Megan - 2 stars
I had high expectations for Eric Chien's magic show, but unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype. While he had a few good tricks up his sleeve, most of them were predictable or lacked the "wow" factor. The overall flow and presentation of the show felt disjointed and uninspired. Chien's stage presence also left much to be desired. Overall, it was an average performance that didn't leave a lasting impression.
