Detailed description

Dune HD Magic 4K is built around the 4-core Amlogic S905X3 processor, includes 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of flash memory, and runs Android 9.0 operating system. Its GPU is the newer Mali-G31, which is 50% faster compared to the Mali-450 that went into the SmartBox 4K Plus. Based on these features, we can play almost any video, music and image files on it without any problems, and we can use Android programs (the Google Play Store is part of the system). It does not support 3D (except, of course, top-bottom and side-by-side 3D formats, since these are not considered 3D for the player), and unlike its bigger brothers, it can only play Blu-ray files without a menu. However, you are already familiar with HDR10 and HDR10+ color coding. Currently, HD audio tracks are not fully transmitted via HDMI - as soon as it becomes clear what this means in practice, we will improve our description. All audio up to 5.1 channels supported by the optical standard can be transmitted on its optical digital audio output. The deservedly popular Dune HD My Collection movie jukebox works fully on this player as well.

The ethernet port already has a gigabit speed - so everything can be played over the network without any hiccups that Magic 4K can decode - Wi-Fi also supports 802.11b/g/n/ac standards, both at 2.4 and 5 GHz it works. Thus, theoretically, even the most serious 4K Blu-ray movie can be played without interruption, in the case of an AC wireless connection (and adequate field strength).

The built-in Bluetooth electronics allow you to connect headsets, game controllers or even the Dune HD AirMouse, but the included remote control also communicates via Bluetooth.

Among 4K YouTube videos, those containing the HDR color system can also be played (thanks to VP9 profile 2 support).

The file system of the connected hard drives - all Dune HD types - can be almost anything, SmartBox 4K writes/reads FAT/FAT32, EXT2/EXT3/EXT4, NTFS, exFAT and BTRFS formats and reads the Mac HFS/HFS+ file system .

Connectors on the back and on the side of the Magic 4K:

1 × USB2.0
1 x USB3.0
1 × HDMI2.1 output
1 × microSD card reader
1 × AV output (with 3.5 mm jack-RCA adapter cable, stereo sound and composite video)
1 × 10/100/1000 Mbit Ethernet
1 × optical digital audio output
1 × 12V power input
Along with the device, we get a completely new remote control with a microphone, infra+Bluetooth, and of course an AV cable (composite video + stereo sound RCA) and an HDMI cable are also included in the package.

Other important parameters of Magic 4K:

Dimensions: 101×26×101 mm
Bluetooth: yes
Wi-Fi: 802.11b/g/n/ac, 2.4 + 5 GHz
External power supply: 12V/1A

I was really excited to try out the Dune HD Magic Player, but unfortunately, I was left disappointed. The user interface was clunky and difficult to navigate, making it frustrating to use. Additionally, the device had compatibility issues with several popular video formats, resulting in playback errors. Overall, I found the experience to be subpar and would not recommend this player.

This was one of the worst media players I've ever used. The Dune HD Magic Player had constant buffering issues, which made it almost impossible to watch any movies or TV shows without interruptions. The quality of the video and audio was also far from impressive, with noticeable pixelation and distortion. Save yourself the disappointment and look for a different media player.

I purchased the Dune HD Magic Player with high hopes, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The player had limited codec support, making it difficult to play certain file types. I also experienced frequent crashes and freezes, forcing me to restart the device multiple times. The lack of reliable performance was a major drawback for me, and I would not recommend this media player to others.

While the Dune HD Magic Player had some good features, it ultimately didn't meet my needs. The interface was not very user-friendly, and it took some time to figure out how to navigate and access my media files. Additionally, the player lacked support for streaming platforms like Netflix or Amazon Prime, which was a major downside for me. Overall, I found the player to be mediocre and wouldn't consider it as my top choice.
