Dominique Wilkins, also known as "The Human Highlight Film," was a professional basketball player who played in the NBA during the 1980s and 1990s. ORLANDO, Fla., June 14 -- Dominique Wilkins, the eighth all-time leading scorer in NBA history, was waived Monday by the Orlando Magic. Wilkins, a nine-time All-Star forward, has averaged 24.8 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists in a 15-year NBA career.

Wilkins has 26,668 points, 42 behind Hall-of-Fame guard Oscar Robertson for seventh on the all-time list. Wilkins, 39, averaged 5.0 points and 2.6 rebounds in 27 games with Orlando this season. He signed with Orlando as a free agent on February 5 and for the first time in his career, he played with his younger brother, Gerald, a guard. Prior to this season, Wilkins had not played in the NBA since the 1996-97 campaign, when he averaged 18.2 points per game for the San Antonio Spurs. He spent part of last season in Italy. Wilkins was first-team All-NBA in 1986, when he led the league in scoring at 30.3 points per game for the Atlanta Hawks. He was the third overall pick by the Utah Jazz in the 1982 draft but traded to the Hawks for two players and cash.
