First Info and One-Sheet for The Prospector’s Curse

The 49er. I’m not talking about the San Fran type that was just a couple of bobbled balls away from the Super Bowl this year… I’m talking about the real thing. The water panning, gold tooth wearing, scraggly haired, crazy eyed character from early American history. That’s what we’re looking at in the upcoming short The Prospector’s Curse.

Yukon Cornelius be damned. You know these early prospectors had to be a little unbalanced. You can’t just sit with a pan in the water all day hoping gold will wash up into it without being a little touched. It’s this fun thought that drives The Prospector’s Curse, which incidentally carries the tagline “There’s blood in them there hills!”. It’s early in 2012, but that is officially one of our favorite tags so far this year.

The film is currently in post-production in Toronto, Canada. For more info visit The Prospector’s Curse Facebook page. A May 2012 release date is planned, but for now dig on the badass poster below.

Curse of the prospector

They spoke of terrible misfortunes, accidents, and even death that followed those who were greedy. But Henry paid no heed to these tales. He believed himself to be more clever than any curse that could befall him. And so, he continued to amass great wealth, taking more and more gold from the mine. As the months went by, the town suffered. Misfortune seemed to trail behind Henry wherever he went. The once prosperous town began to wither and fade, with its people falling into poverty and despair. Accidents in the mine became increasingly frequent, claiming the lives of many. Despite the mounting evidence of the curse, Henry remained defiant. He attributed the misfortunes to mere coincidence and pressed on with his pursuit of wealth. But inside, doubt began to chip away at his resolve. Whispers of the curse haunted his dreams, and he became plagued with guilt and fear. One fateful day, as Henry delved deeper into the mine, the walls came crashing down upon him. Trapped beneath tons of earth, Henry's greed finally caught up with him. It is said that his final moments were filled with regret and a deep sense of remorse. With the death of Henry, the curse was lifted, and the town began to recover. Slowly but surely, prosperity returned to the once desolate village. The tale of the Curse of the Prospector serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of unchecked greed and the importance of balance and respect for nature and its hidden powers. In the end, Henry's insatiable desire for wealth ultimately led to his downfall. The moral of the story is clear; one should not let greed blind them to the consequences of their actions. It is a cautionary tale for those who seek riches, reminding us that true wealth lies not in material possessions, but in the lessons we learn and the relationships we forge along the way..

Reviews for "The Prospector's Curse: Stories of Misfortune from the Gold Rush Era"

- John Doe - 2 stars - I found "Curse of the prospector" to be incredibly boring and uneventful. The plot moved at a snail's pace, and the characters lacked depth or development. The supposed scares and thrills fell flat, as there was no genuine suspense or tension throughout the film. Overall, I was highly disappointed and would not recommend wasting your time on this film.
- Jane Smith - 1 star - "Curse of the prospector" was an absolute waste of time. The acting was subpar, and the dialogue felt forced and unnatural. The story was nonsensical and lacked any real substance or originality. I was hoping for a thrilling horror movie, but all I got was poorly executed jump scares and predictable cliches. Save your money and skip this one.
- David Johnson - 2 stars - "Curse of the prospector" failed to live up to the hype for me. The storyline was convoluted and confusing, making it difficult to invest in the characters or their plight. The scares were cheap and relied heavily on loud noises and jump cuts, rather than building up genuine suspense. I left the theater feeling unsatisfied and wishing I had chosen a different movie to watch.
