The Mexican witch lifestyle, also known as Brujería, encompasses a fascinating blend of indigenous beliefs, spiritualism, and folk magic. It is deeply rooted in Mexican culture and has been passed down through generations. In this mystical practice, Mexican witches, also called Brujos and Brujas, are believed to possess special powers and abilities to communicate with spirits, cast spells, and heal people. They are respected and revered members of the community, sought after for their wisdom and ability to influence events through supernatural means. The Mexican witch lifestyle draws heavily from pre-Hispanic traditions and incorporates elements from Catholicism and Afro-Caribbean religions. This syncretism has resulted in a unique and vibrant belief system that celebrates the supernatural and honors diverse deities and spirits.

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (Socket 754 @ 2.2Ghz)

All this means is that the 12AU7 can be slowly turns off over a wider control voltage range, closer to how a vari-mu tube like the 6386 or 6BC8 works. The MDEST has an additional Master output level knob, whereas the MDE s is hidden, and the MDEST has a Threshold Link which seems a bit confusing at first, as a single Threshold control applies to both channels, but in practice it does tighten things a bit.

This syncretism has resulted in a unique and vibrant belief system that celebrates the supernatural and honors diverse deities and spirits. One of the central beliefs in the Mexican witch lifestyle is the concept of "curanderismo," which translates to the art of healing. Curanderas, female healers, play a significant role in the community and provide remedies for physical, emotional, and spiritual ailments using herbs, incantations, and rituals.

DDMF MagicDeathEye versus UAD-2 Compressors

Just wondering how the MDE stacks up against the UAD-2 Compressors.

Thanks for the feedback!
Cheers!

DDMF is severely underrated. DDMF Metaplugin should be able to upsample Spark and UAD plugins to 192Khz getting rid of the constant upsample/downsample stage.

I don't know if it's so easy to compare any of these things. You pick one compressor for a source because you like what it does, learn to control what you need and move on.

That said: Magic Death Eye works well in the Vari-Mu vein and has really nice results. Like a Fairchild 660 with fewer tubes. The hardware unit is what Al Schmidt used exclusively on his 2-bus. DDMF is a really competent developer who offers good value and support.

The main plug you linked to can run mono or stereo, but note that they also sell a stereo version that has more gentle compression curves and some select EQ points that help on master bus. The one you linked is the better all-arounder.

Using this new design, I wanted to experiment with relay based attenuators. Instead of the Elma switches on the standard model, I built modules containing a microchip
that controlled a set of relays and resistors for perfect stepped stereo matching. The audio sees exactly what it would see with regular stepped switches. Resistors and mechanical (relay) switches.
There is no digital processing of the audio.
The micro controller is controlled with a rugged wirewound pot. So the turn is continuous but the steps are shown in 7 segment LED displays.
I really like the 80’s look (hence the Jordache horse) of this system and the clicking sound of the relays when turning the dials. Its more work and complexity so I’m just testing the waters for now.

They are considered the bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds. Another aspect of the Mexican witch lifestyle is the use of rituals and ceremonies to connect with the spirit realm. These rituals often involve the lighting of candles, the burning of copal incense, and the chanting of prayers or invocations. Witches may also create sacred altars, adorned with flowers, fruit, and objects of personal significance, to honor deities and ancestors. The practice of divination is also an integral part of the Mexican witch lifestyle. Witches may use tools such as Tarot cards, pendulums, or scrying mirrors to gain insights into the past, present, or future. They may also perform "limpias," energetic cleansings, to remove negative energies or spiritual blockages from individuals or spaces. The Mexican witch lifestyle is deeply entwined with nature, and witches often have a profound connection to the elements and the natural world. They may gather herbs, plants, and other natural materials for their charms and potions, believing in their innate power and healing properties. Overall, the Mexican witch lifestyle is a rich and multifaceted tradition that celebrates the supernatural and spiritual aspects of life. It represents a fusion of indigenous beliefs, Catholicism, and Afro-Caribbean influences, creating a practice that is both deeply rooted in tradition and adaptable to contemporary needs. It serves as a testament to the enduring power of belief and the resilience of cultural heritage..
