Carnival Magic

The Ship. Built in 2011, the Carnival Magic is a member of the Dream class of Carnival ships. Weighing approximately 130,000 tons and accommodating about 3,700 passengers, this class of ships is the newest and largest in the Carnival fleet. The Carnival Magic offers a vast array of cabin types and categories to fit the needs of families of various sizes, including "quint" cabins that sleep five.

Dining. Dining options are centered around two large, elegant main dining rooms serving breakfast, lunch, dinner; and Lido Deck restaurants serving buffets, Mongolian-style barbecue, Indian cuisine, 24-hour pizza, as well as lighter fare. Cucina del Capitano serves handmade pastas for a small charge that includes singing waiters. Prime Steakhouse provides an upscale dining experience for an extra charge, but is reputed to be well worth it. 24-hour room service is also provided at no charge. The RedFrog Rum Bar offers a bar menu for a nominal fee, and a sushi bar is usually available 5-8 each evening (though times can vary).

Daytime Activities. Water activities aboard the Carnival Magic include three swimming pools including one with a retractable dome for rainy days, plus a kids pool with twowaterslides (including one slide that twists and turns for more than 300 feet!). The adults-only Serenity deck offers a relaxing respite. Duty-free shopping is available onboard, as are other entertaining activities and get-togethers throughout the day. Rather then an Internet cafe, computer stations are scattered throughout the ship. Ship-wide WI-FI is also available.

Spa and Fitness. The full-service onboard spa and salon provides a variety of relaxing treatments and therapies. The spa's signature treatment is the Bamboo Massage, where warm bamboo shoots of various sizes that have been soaked in essential oil are used to roll and massage away tension. An outdoor sports facility includes a ropes course, and is supplemented by a fully-equipped gym that offers weight and cardio equipment as well as fitness classes. In addition to a jogging track, the Lanai deck allows runners to completely circle the ship at 2.5 laps to the mile.

Nighttime Entertainment. Nightlife abounds in more than twenty onboard bars and lounges featuring different styles of live music, often including everything from rock to jazz to blues, to an old-fashioned sing-along piano bar and karaoke to a disco pumping out dance music into the wee hours. The indoor-outdoor dance club is not to be missed. The Punchline is a George Lopez-inspired comedy club that features late-night shows as well as family-friendly comedy brunches. The grand, multi-tiered theater presents Broadway-style revues featuring the ship's talented cast of singers and dancers, and a large casino offers a variety of games when the ship is at sea. Poker games and tournaments are also staged throughout each voyage. Passengers can also watch movies under the stars on the 270-square-foot LED screen overlooking the main pool area.

Kids. The Carnival Magic also offers Camp Carnival, Carnival's renowned kid's program, which keeps kids from 2-11 engaged in play activities as well as movies and pizza parties during the day and even into the evening (for a small fee) to give parents some time alone). Carnivals teen programs provide a fun and safe environment for teenagers to meet other kids their own age for video game tournaments, parties and other activities. A large onboard arcade is also available separate from the kids club areas, and a mini-golf course on the sports deck adds to the fun.

Carnival Magic Inside Cabin Review (Storage, Comfort and Bathroom)

The average inside cabin on a cruise ship is around half the size of the average hotel room in the US.

When I cruised on Carnival Magic in 2022, I booked the smallest and cheapest cabin on the entire ship.

I booked a “guaranteed” inside cabin, as I was interested to see what I would actually get for my money.

Choosing a guaranteed cabin meant that I decided not to pick the specific position of my cabin. This saved me a little money but it did mean that I risked being given what many would consider a “bad” cabin location.

Usually, the cabins that are assigned by the cruise line are the cabins that nobody else has picked – the leftover cabins.

The magician often calls upon members of the audience to assist with the tricks, adding an interactive element to the show. This not only engages the audience but also adds an extra layer of excitement and unpredictability to the performance. In addition to the magic itself, carnival magic shows often incorporate colorful costumes, lively music, and elaborate sets to create a vibrant and immersive experience.

Carnival Magic

We were sailing onboard the Carnival Magic, a ship built in 2011.

Despite the ship not being that old by cruise ship standards, I had heard quite a few things about the cabins being dated and run down.

Carnival Magic has 1845 cabins and, at full capacity, can hold a little over 4500 guests.

Carnival has a reputation for fun/party ships- but they have also been in the news recently with reports of “booze cruises” with fights breaking out onboard. I hoped I wouldn’t see anything like that!

In a nutshell… we’re all about fun vacations at sea and ashore! A Carnival cruise features day and nighttime entertainment like stage shows, musical performances, deck parties, casinos and more. (Like what? Like waterslides!)

Reviews for "A Magical Experience Awaits Aboard Carnival Magic"

1. John - 2/5 stars - I was really disappointed with "Carnival Magic". The plot was weak and predictable, and the characters were one-dimensional. The humor felt forced and fell flat most of the time. The special effects were also mediocre, and the magic tricks were lackluster. Overall, it just didn't live up to the hype and I wouldn't recommend it.
2. Sarah - 3/5 stars - I had high expectations for "Carnival Magic" but ended up feeling underwhelmed. While the concept of a magic-themed carnival seemed interesting, the execution fell short. The writing was subpar and the dialogue felt unnatural. The pacing was also off, with certain scenes dragging on while others felt rushed. However, the cinematography was well done, and the costumes were visually appealing. It had potential, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to it.
3. Mark - 2/5 stars - "Carnival Magic" was a letdown for me. The storyline was predictable and cliché, lacking any originality. The acting was wooden and unconvincing, making it hard to connect with the characters. The magic tricks were unimpressive and didn't leave me in awe like I had hoped. Overall, it felt like a forgettable film that tries to ride on the popularity of the magic genre without bringing anything new to the table. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for an engaging movie experience.
