Let me tell you a little story about how I was able to make this story I have for you today. I call it the “Pokémon Platinum Incident”. Even though there is no incident I still think about it until this day, or until the day I die. This was horrible for me so for your safety, please, is you find a Pokémon cartridge that is a bit acting up. Throw it away. What I encountered is nothing compared to what might happen to you.
It was one odd school day on May 23, 2019 I was woken up by my little sister yelling at me in my face, “HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG BROTHER!” After a little of seconds of jumping on top of me while I’m not fully awake wondering what is going on. After all the chaos was over I got out of bed and got ready for school and went and took my medicine, “Happy birthday Tyler.” My Mom quietly said as she tip toed out of her room to give me a present, “I want you to open this and leave it here so you can play on it when you get back from school ok?” I ripped open the box to find a Nintendo DS packed up with the Pokémon game Platnum. I gasped as I couldn’t believe what I’ve been wanting for years, “Thanks Mom!” I whispered as I ran over to give her a tight hug, “You’re welcome sweetheart. Now head to the bus stop so you don’t miss the bus.” She whispered calmly into my ear.
I got home at about 2pm and ran through the house to finally boot up my new game. I noticed that a save file was already on the game with all gym badges and max money, “Mom where did you get this at?” I asked as I was walked from my room to the Living room, “I got it at a garage sale, why?” She answered as she was fixing the table for dinner, “No reason.” I said.
After a minutes of playing the game I decided to save my game file and play the old file that was already in the game. I noticed that the only Pokémon that the previous owner had was a Eevee. I didn’t worry about it too much because my Mom told me that Eevee was the previous owners favorite Pokémon. I went to the Lost Tower and I noticed that no ghost Pokémon were spawning at all which made me more concerned on if the previous owner messed with the game. I reached the top of the tower and the top room of the tower was empty with only a sign saying, “No wonder why everyone is scared of me.” I was nervous after reading that sign, but I shrugged it off and went on with the game
I was in my room still playing with the game. I was able to catch some other Pokemon like a Pikachu, Charmander, and a Staru. I was in a battling my Rival when he sent out his Piplup, the Piplup has a scared expression on its face when I sent out Eevee. Right after sending out Eevee a text box popped up saying, “Your rival feen from the scene of his dead Piplup.” I was genuinely shocked after what happed but I knew that more would happen soon. The battle ended and I was free to roam around but right where I was standing a few red pixels layed on the ground, and after that I quit the game and never played it again.
After all the events I been through has scared me for life. Any time I try to forget about it it still continues to come back. My only choice is to get rid of the game. I can’t imagine what would happen to me if I played it again. But I’m only 13 years old now, and I’ll probably never forget that…
