Staley has yet to attend College. Unfortunately most universities prohibit the admission of bears. Staley did however "attend" the circus. His tickets where excellent. The popcorn wasn't bad either. Staley was not impressed with the elephants.

Staley currently holds all-time elementary records for fewest pencils sharpened (2), longest kickball homerun (368FT), largest desk, largest Trapper-Keeper, and most consecutive thumb wrestling victories (54). He was voted "most likely to become a mascot" and "best hugger" for five consecutive years.

PERSONAL

Staley is responsible for entertaining Bears fans young and old. He especially loves to "bust-a-move" and shake what his mama bear gave him. Staley occupies most of his free time by entertaining Bears fans at schools, birthday parties, weddings, and other events around the world.

He enjoys exercising, playing the drums and is highly skilled with a fishing pole. His best friends are Pooh, Smokey, and Yogi. His former girlfriends include Britney Sbears, Bearonce and Christina Aguibeara.

No, not the Pro Football Hall of Fame – which, as it happens, has 30 former Bears players or coaches in it. This member of the Bears is a contended for the Mascot Hall of Fame. The Mascot Hall of fame, located in Whiting, Indiana, has 18 nominees from across the world of sports up for consideration this year. Among them is the Bears' mascot, Staley Da Bear. Staley debuted in 2003 – and is named after the original name of the Bears franchise, the Decatur Staleys. / Getty Images The Decatur Staleys were in turn named for the original owner of the team, A.E. Staley – who was also the founder corn processor the A.E. Staley Manufacturing Company.

  The Staleys moved from Decatur to Chicago in 1921 – two years after their founding. They became the Bears in 1922.   There are 18 nominees in total, and several from the NFL. Alongside Staley Da Bear, NFL nominees include Blitz (Seattle Seahawks), Freddie Falcon (Atlanta), Jaxson de Ville (Jaguars), Miles (Denver Broncos) and Toro (Houston Texans) are all nominated.

  Only four other mascots from major professional sports teams are on the list: Bailey (NHL, Los Angeles Kings), Cozmo (MLS, LA Galaxy), Punter (CFL, Edmonton Elks) and Wally The Green Monster (MLB, Boston Red Sox).

  There are six nominees from the collegiate ranks: Buzz (Georgia Tech), Goldy Gopher (University of Minnesota), Otto The Orange (Syracuse), Rameses (North Carolina) The Bearcat (Cincinnati) and The Blue Devil (Duke).

  The remaining nominees are Slugger from the Minor League Baseball team Portland Sea Dogs and YoJo, an independent mascot.

  Staley Da Bear would be the fourth Chicago mascot to enter those hallowed halls along side Tommy Hawk, Southpaw and Benny The Bull. Southpaw was just inducted into the Mascot Hall of Fame in 2022.

  Tommy Hawk and Benny The Bull were inducted together in 2017.

  Clark The Cub would be the lone mascot from the Big Four sports to not be in the Mascot Hall of Fame, but he's a relative newcomer to the scene, debuting in 2014.

  Chicago also has more mascots in the Mascot Hall of Fame than any other city with three. Kansas City and Indianapolis each have two.
