91 points Wine Enthusiast: "This vividly fruity wine opens with red and black cherries, bay leaf and rhubarb, while the flavors are equally fruity and vibrant. The wine is lightly tannic, well balanced and ready to drink, although it should age nicely through at least 2028. (Apr 2023)."

With the inaugural AE release, Amulet also produced 2021 AE White Wine SRP 85 , a field blend of sauvignon vert and semillon, sourced from the Proof vineyard, one of the oldest vineyards in Napa Valley planted in the 1870s. Helena AVA, Amulet sources from carefully chosen vineyard sites throughout Napa Valley aiming to produce some of the finest, collectible wines in the world.

Napa Valley’s Amulet Estate Introduces ‘AE’ with Inaugural 2021 Vintage Release

St. Helena, Calif. (May 17, 2023) – Napa Valley Cabernet producer and winery, Amulet Estate, announces new companion label ‘AE’ with the release of the 2021 Amulet Estate ‘AE’ Cabernet Sauvignon (SRP $85). Grown in partnership with famed wine growers, the Bettinelli family, ‘AE’ is a collection of wines celebrating Napa Valley, one of the most famous wine growing regions in the world, intentionally produced and priced to remain under $100 a bottle.

“We’re thrilled to introduce ‘AE’ with this elegant Cabernet,” said Nathaniel Dorn, partner in Amulet Estate. “Napa Valley would not be the same without these legendary growers, their contributions to the Valley are endless—together, we wanted to make a quality, single-vineyard Cabernet that was accessible to a wide range of consumers. After spending the majority of my career in hospitality, it was important for us to craft a wine that could support our friends throughout the industry, be served ‘by the glass’ at restaurants across the country, and offer an exciting introduction to Napa Valley Cabernet and Amulet’s portfolio of wines.”

The 2021 ‘AE’ Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced exclusively from a single vineyard site in Yountville AVA, and farmed by the Bettinellis, a multi-generational farming family. The inaugural vintage was crafted using traditional farming techniques with minimal intervention that allow the wine to bloom, and highlight the gravelly loam, cortina soils, and surrounding terroir—which echoes Amulet Estate winemaker, Shawn Johnson’s, approach in the cellar.

“My family has been farming here in Napa Valley for five generations,” said Giancarlo Bettinelli, owner of Bettinelli Vineyards. “And I hope Napa Valley continues to be on the world’s stage as a leader in growing and producing fine wines, but also wines that can be accessible for everyone to drink, discover and enjoy. I’m thrilled to have a top quality wine like this out in the market—a fine representation of what Napa Valley does best.”

With the inaugural ‘AE’ release, Amulet also produced 2021 ‘AE’ White Wine (SRP $85), a field blend of sauvignon vert and semillon, sourced from the Proof vineyard, one of the oldest vineyards in Napa Valley planted in the 1870s.

Reviews for "The allure of Amulet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2021: Why it's a must-try"

1. John Doe - 2 stars
I tried the Amulet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 and I have to say, I was disappointed. The wine had a very strong and overpowering taste that didn't appeal to me at all. It felt very harsh on my palate, lacking the smoothness and complexity that I usually look for in a Cabernet Sauvignon. The aftertaste was also not enjoyable, leaving a bitter and unpleasant sensation. Overall, I would not recommend this wine to others who prefer a more balanced and refined taste.
2. Sarah Smith - 3 stars
I had high hopes for the Amulet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2021, but it fell short of my expectations. While it had some decent fruity notes on the nose, the taste was a bit underwhelming. The wine lacked depth and complexity, making it quite forgettable. I was also hoping for a smoother finish, but it ended up being a bit too sharp. It's not a bad wine, but for the price point, I was hoping for more character and refinement.
3. David Thompson - 2.5 stars
The Amulet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 did not impress me. The wine had a very strong and overpowering oak flavor, to the point where it seemed artificial. The fruitiness was also lacking, leaving a one-dimensional taste that didn't develop much on the palate. I found it quite disappointing, especially considering the reputation of the winery. I would recommend exploring other options before settling for this particular vintage.
