How to work out your skin tone:

It's best to do this wearing no make up - wait 30 mins after washing your face as any scrubbed skin may appear pink and give a false reading.

Hold a white piece of paper up to your face.

Looking in a mirror, try to see how your skin looks in contrast to the white paper. It may appear to have a yellow cast, a blue-red or rosy cast, or it may not appear to be either, but a grey colour instead. What colour does you skin appear at the side of the paper?

• Yellowish or sallow beside the white paper, you have a warm skin tone.
• Pink, rosy, or blueish-red, then you have a cool skin tone.
• Grey, your skin probably has an olive complexion with a neutral undertone. The green from your complexion and the yellowish undertone combines to create this effect. You can experiment with neutral and warm tones, since you fall somewhere in between.
• If you can't determine any cast of yellow, olive, or pink, you have a neutral skin tone. Neutral tones can look good in foundations and colours on both ends of the cool/warm spectrum.

Another way to do this is to look at what colour jewellery you wear.

• If you suit gold you more than likely have a warm skin tone.
• If you suit silver you more than likely have a cool skin tone.
• If you can wear both colour you more than likely have a neutral undertone.

Storybook Cosmetics Wizardry and Witchcraft Palette | Review

A full makeup line of products inspired by our favorite stories? Now that is a major dream come true for me! I’m a huge bookworm so when I saw Storybook Cosmetics announce they had big plans with collabs and products, I constantly stalked their Instagram account. They first launched a set of wand shaped makeup brushes which I was lucky to grab in the first release. Then they announced they were working on this palette that I’m about to review for you all! I was so happy to preorder and although shipping commenced a few months after preordered, it was well worth the wait!

About the Brand

Storybook Cosmetics was created by three sisters – they’re triplets in fact – Erin, Mandy, and Missy! They went viral in October 2016 with their wand shaped brushes! Since then, they’ve been working incredibly hard to create and deliver top of the line products inspired by stories. Currently, their shop features Wizard Wand Brush Sets, Bullseye Brush Sets, What’s In A Name Brush Set, and the Wizardry and Witchcraft Shadow Palette!

Packaging

When I first saw sneak peeks of this product, I thought the packaging looked bulky. The design seemed cute and all but I wasn’t sure if I’d like the idea of shadows in a bulky book shaped palette. However, I had full faith in these talented ladies and the packaging is absolutely gorgeous! The palette comes in a sleeve and both come in a pouch with their logo in the center.

The palette is the perfect size and the vintage style with gold foil details is beyond stunning!

I love the detailing that went behind the packaging with the quote they have right below the mirror inside!

I also love the back of the palette and sleeve. The back of the palette has a quote they created that I really adore, “Once upon a time, there were three sisters who never stopped believing in fairytales…and they all lived happily ever after.” Below that is their copyright information and logo. The sleeve has all this plus the shades and ingredients listed.

Formula

The formula is buttery and the shade range is what I had hoped it would be – magical. I found all the shades to be blendable and pigmented. The metallics ands pearls are more pigmented than the mattes, but that’s something I tend to expect with all palettes. The swatches are without primer and one layer of product. I love that there’s a gold and silver, green and blue, and basically just a bunch of different colors I associate this theme with!

Final Thoughts

I had pretty high expectations for this palette. Not just the formula, but the packaging as well. I know I won’t use this palette daily but I knew that before purchasing the palette. I love supporting indie brands, especially brands with great customer service and a team of people who love what they do and care about their customers and fans. The team behind Storybook Cosmetics does just this! I’m looking forward to their upcoming projects that are planned to release this year along with what else they have coming down the road.

1. Jessica - 2/5 stars - The Witchcraft makeup line was a huge disappointment for me. I was really excited to try it out, but the products fell short. The eye shadow palette lacked pigment and was not blendable at all. The lipsticks were dry and patchy, leaving my lips feeling cracked and uncomfortable. Overall, the quality of the makeup was just not up to par with other brands in the same price range. I would not recommend Witchcraft makeup to anyone.

2. Tyler - 1/5 stars - I had high hopes for Witchcraft makeup, but unfortunately, it was a complete letdown. The foundation was thick and cakey, making my skin look worse than it did before applying it. The mascara did not add any volume or length to my lashes and smudged easily throughout the day. Additionally, the packaging is cheap and flimsy. Save your money and invest in a better makeup brand that actually delivers on its promises.

3. Emily - 2/5 stars - I tried a few products from Witchcraft makeup and was not impressed. The foundation did not match my skin tone properly and oxidized throughout the day, making me look orange. The eyeliners were difficult to apply smoothly and smudged easily. I also found that the products irritated my sensitive skin. Overall, I was disappointed with the quality and performance of Witchcraft makeup and will not be repurchasing.

4. Michael - 1/5 stars - As a professional makeup artist, I was extremely disappointed with the Witchcraft makeup line. The eyeshadows had very little payoff and were difficult to work with, especially when trying to create a more intricate look. The blushes appeared chalky on the skin and did not blend well. The packaging is also very basic and lacks the sophistication that other brands offer. I would not recommend Witchcraft makeup to anyone looking for high-quality, professional-grade products.
