Infused with Latin American tradition—the Brooklyn Brujas series follows three sisters—and brujas—as they develop their powers and battle magic in their hometown and worlds beyond.

Rose Mortiz has always been a fixer, but lately she's been feeling lost. She has brand new powers that she doesn't understand, and her family is still trying to figure out how to function in the wake of her amnesiac father's return home. Then, on the night of her Deathday party, Rose discovers her father's memory loss has been a lie.

As she rushes to his side, the two are ambushed and pulled through a portal to the land of Adas, a fairy realm hidden in the Caribbean Sea. There Rose is forced to work with a group of others to save Adas. Soon, she begins to discover the scope of her powers, the troubling truth about her father's past, and the sacrifices he made to save her sisters. 1. Emily - 2 stars
I found the Wayward Witch series to be quite disappointing. The characters were poorly developed and lacked depth, making it difficult to connect with them on any level. The plot was also lackluster and predictable, with no real surprises or twists to keep me engaged. Additionally, the writing style was bland and lacked any sense of creativity. Overall, I felt like I was reading a generic, cliché young adult novel that offered nothing new or exciting to the genre. I would not recommend this series to others.

I absolutely hated the Wayward Witch series. The main protagonist was insufferable and constantly made questionable decisions that made me question her intelligence. The world-building was also underwhelming and lacked any real depth or complexity. The magic system felt forced and poorly explained, leaving me feeling confused and uninterested in the story. The pacing was also a major issue, with long stretches of nothing happening followed by rushed and unresolved plot points. Overall, this series was a complete letdown and I would not recommend wasting your time on it.

I was really hoping to enjoy the Wayward Witch series, but unfortunately, it fell flat for me. The romance in the story felt forced and contrived, lacking any real chemistry between the characters. The dialogue was cheesy and unrealistic, making it difficult to take the story seriously. Additionally, the world-building felt half-baked, leaving many unanswered questions and inconsistencies. The plot was predictable and the lack of surprises made it a struggle to stay invested in the story. Overall, I was disappointed with this series and would not recommend it to others.
