Throwing Dice Divination: A Tool for Self-Reflection and Personal Growth

By admin

Throwing dice divination, also known as "casting the runes" or "rolling the bones," is a form of divination that has been used for centuries to gain insight into the future. It is believed that the act of throwing the dice can connect the user to a higher power or spiritual realm, allowing them to receive guidance and information. In this practice, special dice or rune stones are typically used. These dice or stones are marked with symbols or letters that represent certain concepts or ideas. The user will typically ask a question or seek guidance on a specific topic before throwing the dice. The dice are then thrown onto a special cloth or surface, and the patterns in which they land are interpreted.

The dice are then thrown onto a special cloth or surface, and the patterns in which they land are interpreted. Each symbol or letter that is facing upwards is analyzed and associated with a specific meaning or message. These meanings can vary depending on the specific tradition or system being used.

I adapted this from a Victorian book. The original is below. Clearly sometimes Victorian ladies needed to use other methods to shape their fate!

Whereby a lady may discover her romantic fate.

If matters of health, family, or business are of more pressing interest at the moment, the answers can be interpreted in that way.

Instructions.

Roll two dice in the hands while saying, silently or aloud, "For better for worse, for richer for poorer. " then shake the dice and let them drop into a circle you have previously drawn on a surface. A circular cloth or paper will also serve, preferable white like the moon. Only attempt this divination once a month, if possible at the full moon.

If the dice roll out of the circle, the throw goes for nothing, but this mischance indicated an argument to come.
If they fall to the floor, you are in danger of losing a friend.
If one comes to rest on top of the other then you will soon receive a present of significance.

Interpretations of the dice

2 Alas, the signs are unfavorable.
3 You are in danger of making a mistake. Delay.
4 Accept that new responsibility. Your destiny awaits you there.
5 You will meet your romantic destiny this month, but may face some challenges before you find happiness.
6 You have a secret admirer and he may be the one.
7 Your dearest hopes will come true.
8 A person who lingers in your memory will contact you.
9 It is time to make the first move.
10 A change is needed before Cupid's darts can fly.
11 The month will present opportunities, but be cautious.
12 You will experience disappointment this month, but what seems sad will turn out for the best.

The Victorian original uses three dice.

Take three dice, shake them well in the box in the left hand, and then cast them out on a board or table, on which you had previously drawn a circle with chalk, but never throw on a Monday or Wednesday.

3 A pleasing surprise
4 A disagreeable one
5 A stranger who will prove a friend
6 Loss of property
7 Undeserved scandal
8 Merited reproach
9 A wedding
10 A christening, at which some important event will occur to you
11 A death that concerns you
12 A letter, speedily
13 tears and sighs
14 a new admirer
15 Beware that you are not drawn into some trouble or plot
16 A pleasant journey
17 You will either be on the water, or have dealings with those belonging to it, to your advantage.
18 A great profit, rise in life, or some most desirable good will happen almost immediately.

The answers to the dice are always fulfilled within nine days.
To show the same number twice at one trial means news from abroad, be the number what it may.
If the dice roll over the circle, the throw goes for nothing, but the occurrence indicates sharp words, and if they fall to the floor, it is blows.
If one remains on top of the other, it is a present, of which the recipient should take care.

This die is 7/16th of an inch tall and wide. It is cube-shaped, the same length in all dimensions. There are six sharp corners that meet at 90 degree angles. These corners form perfectly straight and well-defined edges that run from the top to the bottom. There are six sides to the object, each equal in height and length. There are small circular indentions on each side. Each side has a different amount ranging from the least having one and the most having six. These small circular indentions are arranged so that the side with one has one in the middle, the side with two has two in diagonal corners, the side with three has three organized in a diagonal line, the side with four has four in each corner, the side with five has one in each corner and one in the middle, and the side with six has three in a straight line on one side and three in a straight line on the other side. These small circular indentions appear to have once been painted black, but the paint has worn out since then. The object is chipped in several places on the sides and a few of the corners are worn down. The object is extremely light and fits in the palm of a hand. The die is made out of wood and finished in a light, natural shade. The die appears to be worn out and old. The wood is covered in dirt stains, but otherwise the finish feels resistant to water and other liquids. On the least worn side, faint parallel lines stretch across the entire side. The die makes a pleasant plinking sound when dropped on a table. It can sit on only one side at a time because of the sharpness of its angles. The object appears to look the same from the side and to look the same from the top, except on closer inspection each side has a different number of small circular indentions. The opposite sides add up to seven, so the side with three dots is opposite the side with four dots, the side with two dots is opposite the side with five dots, and the side with one dot is opposite the side with one dot. The significance of the number seven will be discussed later.
Throwing dice divination

One of the main advantages of throwing dice divination is its simplicity and accessibility. Unlike other forms of divination that require complex rituals or specific tools, throwing dice divination can be done with minimal preparation or knowledge. This makes it accessible to individuals of all backgrounds and beliefs. Additionally, throwing dice divination is often seen as a more objective form of divination. Since the results are determined by the physical act of throwing the dice, it is believed to be less influenced by the biases or interpretations of the person conducting the divination. This can provide a sense of clarity and impartiality to the readings. However, it is important to note that throwing dice divination is not considered to be an exact science. The interpretations of the symbols or letters can vary greatly depending on the individual and their own intuitive abilities. It is also important to approach the practice with an open mind and to not rely solely on the divination for important life decisions. In conclusion, throwing dice divination is a popular and accessible form of divination that has been used for centuries to gain insight and guidance. Its simplicity and objectivity make it an attractive option for those seeking clarity and direction. However, it is important to approach the practice with an open mind and to use it as a tool for reflection and introspection, rather than relying solely on its predictions..
