We got this for my neices 6th birthday and she is obsessed. She LOVES the affirmations and apparently is asking to do a potion 5 out of 7 days a week. Really beautifully made and such a fun idea!!

After creating each potion, my bugs drew a picture of their observations and wrote down the ingredients they used using the imagined names as well as what the potion does. Magic Potion Punch With Video

Magic Potion Punch – A magical punch that fizzes and bubbles when you add the secret ingredient. Tastes delicious, too! Great for mad scientist and Halloween parties or just anytime you need a little magic.

The cool, crisp fall air is already approaching the Midwest. To me, it means comfort food (of course), scheduling a maintenance check for the furnace, stocking up on candles, deep cleaning the house before the snow flies and replacing our summer wardrobes with sweaters, sweatshirts and long pants. To my kids, it means. . .Halloween and the return of hats and mittens. With the latter being definitely the less important of the two.

Sooo. . .Halloween planning in our house starts a bit early. They’d rather see a ghost decoration sitting on top of our mantel than a decoupaged leaf lantern. I can’t blame them. Some days I prefer that too. Today I’m sharing this super cool recipe for Magic Potion Punch. That’s right. Just the name alone will have your kiddos intrigued.

It’s really very simple to make and rather than making a HUGE punch bowl, you can make this by the cup – perfect! I will say that this recipe could be made for a larger group by adjusting the ingredients, however, the whole “fizzing” effect that I’m about to show you may not be as, let’s say, “impressive.”

Take an 8 oz. cup and add about 1/8 cup lemonade (I just used the powder mix), 1/8 cup grape juice and then fill the rest of the cup with lemon-lime soda. NOW, get ready for the magic! When you add the teaspoon of JELL-O, this magic punch fizzes and bubbles just like a real potion! Lasting only seconds, but long enough to get oohs and ahhs out of the kiddos!

The lemon-lime soda is really one of the key ingredients. If you add the JELL-O and nothing happens, it usually means you don’t have enough soda in your concoction. Try to avoid piling more JELL-O powder into the drink because the concentration can become overpowering.

If mixed correctly, this drink is truly delicious and so much fun to serve at a mad scientist or Halloween party. It’s also just a great experiment to do in the classroom. The best part is, it’s drinkable science!
