It’s no secret K.F. Breene is a writing friend of mine. She’s also part of the Fab13 Paranormal Women’s Fiction (PWF). Most of you are probably familiar with K.F. Breene’s urban fantasy and paranormal romance books. From The Demon Days, Vampire Nights Series to Deliciously Dark Fairytales, Breene pens tales that captivate readers. I’m taking a second to plug her amazing Paranormal Women’s Fiction series, Leveling Up!

Magical Midlife Madness (Leveling UP #1) by K.F. Breene

A woman starting over. A new house with an unexpected twist. A cape wearing butler acting as the world’s worst life coach.

“Happily Ever After” wasn’t supposed to come with a do-over option. But when my husband of twenty years packs up and heads for greener pastures and my son leaves for college, that’s exactly what my life becomes.

This time, though, I plan to do things differently. Age is just a number, after all, and at forty I’m ready to carve my own path.

Eager for a fresh start, I make a somewhat unorthodox decision and move to a tiny town in the Sierra foothills. I’ll be taking care of a centuries old house that called to me when I was a kid. It’s just temporary, I tell myself. It’ll just be for a while.

That is, until I learn what the house really is, something I never could’ve imagined.

Thankfully forty isn’t too old to start an adventure, because that’s exactly what I do. A very dangerous adventure that will change my life forever. I have a chance to start again, and this time, I make the rules.

My Thoughts:

Magical Midlife Madness is the start of the Leveling Up series by K.F. Breene. It’s a slow-burn romance, full of unexpected twists and turns, and I found myself laughing out loud at the antics of the characters. The writing is witty and sharp, and it really captures what it’s like to be a woman starting over in her 40s. Highly recommended! Pick up your copy today!

I was really disappointed with the Magical Midlife series. The characters were very one-dimensional and lacked any depth. The plot was also quite predictable and didn't offer any surprises or twists. Overall, it felt like a very mediocre read and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and engaging fantasy series.

I had high hopes for the Magical Midlife series, but unfortunately, it fell flat for me. The writing style was quite dull and lacked any sort of flair. The main character was also annoying and constantly made poor decisions, which made it hard for me to connect with her. Additionally, the pacing of the story was all over the place and it felt like nothing significant happened for most of the book. I couldn't wait for it to be over.

I struggled with the Magical Midlife series. The humor was forced and didn't seem genuine, which made the book feel awkward to read. The romance aspect was also very disappointing. It lacked any real chemistry or development and felt forced and contrived. The world-building was also quite weak, as the magical elements and the rules of the world were never properly explained or explored. Overall, it just didn't capture my interest or hold my attention.
