One of the key features of this primer is its pore-minimizing effects. The base contains special ingredients that help to visibly reduce the look of enlarged pores, giving the skin a smoother and more refined appearance. It also helps to blur out imperfections such as fine lines and wrinkles, creating a more youthful and radiant complexion.

L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base Face Primer Review

I’ve recently been trying drugstore primers and came across the L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base Face Primer. I purchased the primer at Walmart for about $10.00 in the US, the jar is 0.5 fl oz.

L’Oreal claims that the product:

  • Smoothes lines.
  • Hides pores.
  • Banishes imperfections

The description of the product is as follows:

Discover the secret to perfect skin texture. Introducing Magic Perfecting Base for instant smoothing results. Get the perfect skin texture, instantly and all day. The silky, lightweight formula glides onto skin and minimizes the look of pores and fine lines. Skin feels smooth to the touch. The result—a unified matte finish that’s flawless. Suitable for all skin types. Dermatologist tested. Non-comedogenic.

My first impression of the product was that the packaging was elegant, and I really liked the glass jar. Although after using the product I wasn’t fond of the jar and think that it would be a lot better if it was in a tube or a pump.

Right when I opened the jar I smelled it, like I always do when I purchase products. The Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base is scentless, so that made me happy as scented products bother me.

I tested the product on my hand at first and really liked how easily it applied and how it made my hand look and feel smooth like a baby’s bottom. The primer feels very smooth to the touch, it’s consistency almost reminds me of mousse.

It was hard to figure out how much product to use when applying as you just dip your fingers into the jar. I started with a small amount and built it up to prevent over doing it. You are suppose to blend the product into your face in a circular motion for an even application. In some areas the primer would blend nicely into my skin but in areas it would ball up into this white residue. After trying it several times using less and more product I had the same problem over and over again. I had to wipe away the residue with a tissue which was annoying.

I didn’t really think that it smoothed out my imperfections and fine lines which was disappointing. As I get older I am always looking for products to help hide my lines under my eyes and forehead and this product did not help at all with that.

I tried wearing the L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base Face Primer under both my bareMinerals MATTE Foundation and Revlon Colorstay. I didn’t really notice a difference in how my foundation applied, it seemed to apply pretty much the same with or without the primer.

I’ve never been one to reapply my makeup throughout the day and didn’t notice a difference in how long my foundation stayed on throughout the day when wearing the primer.

I’ve worn the primer on and off again for the past few weeks and haven’t noticed any breakouts which is good news because my skin is sensitive. Some products tend to make my t-zone oily and the primer did not do that so that was a plus.

Overall I don’t really recommend the L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Magic Perfecting Base Face Primer as it really didn’t do anything for me. I didn’t notice any difference in my makeup when wearing it.

What are your thoughts on the Magic Perfecting Base Face Primer? What are your favorite primers?

I bought this primer with the hope it really did what it said. This product is thick and you have to work it on your fingers before you can spread it on your face. The jar it comes in is not very sanitary. You either have to use a small spatulor your fingers to get the product out. Once on your face it doesn't take ling before my skin to get oily. It's just ok for people with dry to normal skin. It's hard to blend. For a drug store primer its expensive. I say save your money and splurge on a better primer. I meant to give it two stars. Thanks

In addition to its pore-minimizing and blurring effects, the Magic Perfecting Base also provides a good base for foundation application. It helps to extend the wear of foundation, allowing it to stay in place for longer periods without creasing or fading. This makes it an ideal choice for those with oily skin or for those who want their makeup to last throughout the day. Another benefit of the Magic Perfecting Base is its versatility. It can be used alone for a more natural and matte finish, or it can be used under makeup to create a smooth and even base for foundation. It is also suitable for use on specific areas of the face, such as the T-zone or under the eyes, to control shine and minimize the appearance of pores in these areas. Overall, the L'Oreal Magic Perfecting Base is a popular choice among makeup enthusiasts for its ability to create a smooth and flawless complexion. With its pore-minimizing and blurring effects, lightweight formula, and long-lasting results, it is a great addition to any makeup routine..

I was really disappointed with the L'Oreal Magic Perfecting Base. It claimed to provide a smooth and flawless canvas for my makeup, but it just didn't deliver. The texture was thick and felt heavy on my skin, making it difficult to blend in. It also didn't do much to minimize the appearance of my pores or fine lines as it claimed. Overall, I would not recommend this product if you're looking for a truly perfecting base.

I had high hopes for the L'Oreal Magic Perfecting Base, but it left me extremely disappointed. The consistency was very greasy and made my skin feel oily all day. It also made my makeup slide off within a few hours of application, which was very frustrating. Additionally, it didn't provide any pore-blurring or smoothing effects as it claimed. I would not purchase this product again and I do not recommend it.
3. Sarah - 1/5 stars
The L'Oreal Magic Perfecting Base was a total letdown for me. It had a strange chemical scent that I found off-putting, and the texture was thick and difficult to work with. It didn't provide any sort of smooth base for my makeup, and it actually made my foundation appear cakey and uneven. I was really disappointed with this product and would not purchase it again.

I tried the L'Oreal Magic Perfecting Base and unfortunately, it didn't live up to its claims. The texture was silicone-heavy and felt heavy on my skin, which I found uncomfortable. It also didn't do much to extend the longevity of my makeup, as my foundation still started to fade and break apart after a few hours of wear. I would not recommend this product if you're looking for a reliable and long-lasting base for your makeup.
