Once upon a time, in a small village nestled between rolling hills, lived a kind and benevolent witch named Willow. Willow was known throughout the village for her generosity and magical abilities. Her cottage, covered in vines and flowers, exuded an air of enchantment that fascinated all who passed by. One day, a young girl named Emily stumbled upon Willow's cottage while exploring the woods. Curiosity got the better of her, and she cautiously approached the cottage, her heart pounding. To her surprise, the witch Willow welcomed her with a warm smile and invited her inside for tea.
This is the question I set out to answer in my book, Waking the Witch: Reflections on Women, Magic, and Power. In it, I explore how the figure of the witch is inextricably linked to our anxieties and aspirations regarding female power. Looking at witches in fiction became a crucial part of my research because, as I quickly discovered, the archetype of the witch is constantly evolving, and beliefs about “real” witches are deeply influenced by the stories we tell about them. In other words, our conception of witches is a cross-pollination—or even a cross-pollution—between reality and fantasy.
As Antonio states, that is what Ultima tried to teach me, that the tragic consequences of life can be overcome by the magical strength that resides in the human heart. It s the same giddy feeling I have when I m gardening, imposing my will on nature to get what I want, coaxing the first green shoots to emerge sweetly from the earth so I can sink my teeth into them.
To her surprise, the witch Willow welcomed her with a warm smile and invited her inside for tea. Over tea, Willow shared tales of her adventures and the magic she possessed. Emily was enthralled by the stories and couldn't help but share her secret wish – to have a magical present that would bring joy and happiness to everyone in her village.

1. John - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with "Enchanted present from a benevolent witch". The story felt unoriginal and lacked depth. It seemed like the author just copied and pasted elements from other fantasy novels without adding anything new or unique. The characters were one-dimensional and I couldn't connect with any of them. Overall, this book didn't live up to the hype for me.
2. Sarah - 1 star - I couldn't even finish reading "Enchanted present from a benevolent witch". The writing style was extremely poor, filled with grammatical errors and awkward sentences. The plot was predictable and the pacing was all over the place. I found myself getting bored and frustrated with the lack of creativity and originality. I would not recommend this book to anyone.
