If you're thinking about making your first hire, here's my advice: Don't go for the cheapest person you can find. Hire someone with the experience you need to level up your business. Looking back, knowing what I know now, I would have hired a bit differently. When I first started building my team, I hired junior people because I wanted to save money. And, while those people helped build The Attention Seeker into what it is today, we spent a lot of time just trying to figure shit out. If I had hired people with a bit more experience, I could have saved myself a lot of that heartache. And we would be well and truly miles ahead of where we are today. Now that's not to say that hiring for cultural fit isn't important. To this day, it's still the #1 thing we hire for. But if you can find someone who's a good cultural fit and has the experience you need, hire them. It really doesn't cost that much more. And it means you'll grow so much faster.
