"The Curse of Sleeping Beauty," a horror film directed by Pearry Reginald Teo, almost works. Revolving around an ancient curse with fairy tale-like repercussions, the film benefits from a tone that mixes genre-imposed darkness and notes of light, granting the experience an engaging energy. That energy, however, is not enough to elevate the film above its cluttered story and ultimate inconsequentiality. "The Curse of Sleeping Beauty" follows a man who inherits an ancestral home only to find it cursed by an ancient demon. Teaming with a realtor and a paranormal specialist, he attempts to take on the the demon and end the curse. There is also the matter of Briar Rose, a woman from another realm to which the man…

Okay, so every week my buddies and I bet on what will make the most money at the box office, the one who gets the closest wins and assigns the other two a movie. If you do not watch that movie in a certain amount of time, you get assigned a punishment movie. A movie that the winner deems as pure unadulterated shit. I had a busy couple weeks and this is my punishment. Holy balls was this terrible.

A film created as an excuse to see Ethan Peck wake up in a sweat about six times over. While I'm largely on board with that, the film is just plain silly, with a monumental lack of emotion of any sort. The film starts with Peck's character visiting a psychiatrist, and you can pretty much tell the film is going to be a shit show from that point on, as Peck lies in a chaise longue facing the psychiatrist (leaving her to look at the soles of his shoes, and kind of defeating the purpose of a sofa). She also tells him during their first meeting that he needs to put [himself] out there more. Just no. Also includes a decoding scene that looks like something out of a 1990s film about computers. A+ on that front.

eu juro que tô sendo generoso dando uma estrela, só não dou meia pela bela adormecida que está belíssima 💁🏼‍♀️

the main guy looks and sounds scarily similar to someone i know and that is reason enough to not like this

Bruce Davison brings a sense of mystery and intrigue to the film as Richard Pepper, a man who seems to know more about the curse than he lets on. Davison's portrayal adds depth to the story and keeps the audience guessing about his true intentions. James Adam Lim rounds out the cast as Nathan, a close friend of Thomas who assists him in his quest to break the curse. Lim's character provides comic relief and serves as the voice of reason when Thomas becomes consumed by the dark forces within the mansion. Together, the cast of The Curse of Sleeping Beauty brings the eerie and supernatural world of the film to life. Each actor delivers a strong performance that adds to the suspense and intrigue of the story..
