Sun Celebration Festivals: From Beltane to Litha, the Pagan Way

By admin

The celebration of the sun is an ancient practice that has roots in pagan traditions. The sun, being one of the most powerful and prominent forces in our lives, has long been worshipped and revered by different cultures across the world. In pagan belief systems, the sun is often seen as a deity or symbol of divinity. One of the names for the sun celebration in pagan traditions is "Litha". Litha is derived from the Old English word for "midsummer" and is associated with the summer solstice, the longest day of the year. This day marks the peak of the sun's power and is seen as a time of abundance, growth, and vitality.

Overall opinion: Though I disliked a good few of their products, I'm pretty impressed with this company. The oil content in their candles/wax seems to be near the top of the industry, and the performance shows. Yet they're still affordable. And their scents are unique, mostly innovative, and special.

Unfortunately, they used an aromachemical which I m fairly sure is benzaldehyde, making this candle have the cherry tobacco smell that just about every masculine tobacco perfume has. Bakery on Main Street will create the fragrance of fresh-smelling baked goods in your home what could be better to remind you of the fragrance of the parks.

This day marks the peak of the sun's power and is seen as a time of abundance, growth, and vitality. During the Litha celebration, pagans honor and invoke the energy of the sun through various rituals and ceremonies. Bonfires are lit to symbolize the sun's warmth and light, and people gather around these fires to sing, dance, and express gratitude for the sun's blessings.

We just got “Back In Time” in our subscription box. Very nostalgic 80’s smell. Does anyone know what Disney ride/resort/shop/etc this is supposed to smell like? I simply can not figure it out.

It’s not anything at Disney, it’s supposedly scents from the 80’s. I’ve been told it definitely smells like the old Drakkar Noir cologne men used to wear.

Update:
We love the Contemporary and Wilderness Resort.
We DO NOT like the Animal Lodge.
Pineapple Whip is good, but the scent does not fill the room as well as the top 2.
We love the candles and plan to buy more in the future!

I like the pirates one. Really smells like the ride. Actually when I first got it I stuck it on my entrance table and my dh walked by and said “why does it smell like a Disney water ride in here?” Lol

Just got an email that said the African Lodge scent has been changed as of 4/5/22.
I am curious to see how they changed it since I got one in March and it was making me sneeze. (Only candle to ever do that)

Most scents are good but avoid the oils. Yuck. And watch the wood wick, one almost set my house on fire because it burned so high. And I had trimmed the wick way down. Fortunately I was close by and was able to blow it out! I like the Flying Over Africa, I can picture the elephant scene from Soarin' when I smell it!

Why did you not like the oils?

It also said the Wilderness Resort candle was changed too. Not sure what the change was, but for the 50th, I think Disney started the same scent at each resort? Afraid to reorder the Wilderness candle until we find out what they changed.

We like Floridian - have used both the candle and the oil (I have bath salts as well but I keep forgetting that we have them so they never get used). I just wish they would change the labels! I have to pull them off everything because something about how they feel is nails on a chalkboard to me

After your post, I just saw that!
I ordered the Wilderness Lodge candle before the change and enjoyed it.
Now I am curious.

I think they were a bit too overpowering for me and I did not think they smelled like they were supposed to. I ended up throwing a set of 4 away, it was past the return date. Bought the Orange Grove foaming soap and did not like that fragrance in the soap form, but liked the candle. I do love the candles - I just need to keep a close watch on them because the wood wick can burn really high, even when trimmed down. Guess I will stick to just the candles!

For the record, I don't believe they smell anything like Disney. So, in a way, you're sort of creating your own nostalgia. If you want the real scents from the resorts they're available in a commercial air freshener (that's $$$).

Scents are very subjective.

However, I do enjoy Vero Beach, Contemporary (same as several others like Grand Floridian maybe), Banshee Flight, Castaway Cruise and H2O are by far my favorites.

I tend to purchase the candles and the oils in these scents and as the candle fades (I use the wax warmer and don't burn them), I put a few more drops of the oils in the wholly melted candle wax.

Space Coaster, Japan and Polynesian are just OK.

African Lodge, Walt's Office, Haunted, Flying Over Orange Groves, Wilderness Resort, Pixe Dust, Mine Train and Poison Apple are no goes for me.

Update:
The "new" scents of Wilderness Resort and African Resort are great! (African Resort candle no longer smells like baby powder.)
I am not sure if they are the same scent as WL or AKL though, since we were required to wear masks there when we went in Dec.
Floridian and Contemporary are the same scent, but we enjoy both of them!
Any other suggestions for candles we should try?

I have even taken the mani-pedi kit with me on a Disney cruise and used the scrub in the Rainforest!
Sun celebration pagan name

It is a time for community and connecting with the natural world. In addition to the celebration of the sun, Litha is also associated with other pagan traditions and beliefs. It is considered a time of heightened spiritual energy, when the veil between the physical and spiritual realms is said to be thin. Many pagans use this time to connect with their ancestors, perform divination, or engage in rituals aimed at harnessing the sun's energy for personal growth and transformation. Overall, the pagan name for the sun celebration, Litha, represents a time of connection, reflection, and celebration of the sun's power and influence in our lives. It is a time when pagans come together to express gratitude for the sun's abundance and to honor the cycles of nature..

Reviews for "Exploring the Folklore and Legends Behind Pagan Sun Celebrations"

1. Jane - 2 out of 5 stars - I was really disappointed with "Sun celebration pagan name". The storyline was confusing and hard to follow. I couldn't connect with any of the characters and found them to be shallow and one-dimensional. The writing style was also quite inconsistent, jumping between different tenses and perspectives. Overall, I was left feeling unsatisfied and frustrated with this book.
2. Mark - 1 out of 5 stars - "Sun celebration pagan name" is one of the worst books I have ever read. The plot was dull and predictable, and the pacing was incredibly slow. I would not recommend wasting your time on this book.
3. Sarah - 2 out of 5 stars - I had high hopes for "Sun celebration pagan name" but was ultimately let down. The initial premise was promising, but the execution fell flat. The dialogue felt forced and unnatural, and the character development was lacking. I found myself constantly questioning the motivations and actions of the main characters. The ending was also incredibly unsatisfying, leaving loose ends that were never addressed. Overall, I was left feeling underwhelmed by this book.
4. Mike - 2 out of 5 stars - "Sun celebration pagan name" was a tedious read. The pacing was sluggish, and the plot was unoriginal. The writing style was lackluster, with repetitive phrases and cliché descriptions. The characters were uninteresting and lacked any compelling arcs.
