David Seville, whose real name was Ross Bagdasarian Sr., was an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He was born on January 27, 1919, in Fresno, California, and passed away on January 16, 1972. Seville was best known for his creation of the music group The Chipmunks and his successful novelty song "Witch Doctor." Seville's musical career began in the 1950s when he released several singles under his own name. However, it was in 1958 that he achieved worldwide fame with the release of "Witch Doctor.
