How to Make a Witch Hat from a Paper Plate

By admin

Paper Plate Witch Craft One popular and fun craft activity for kids during Halloween is making a paper plate witch. This craft project is relatively easy and requires just a few materials. It is a great way to engage children in a creative and imaginative activity while celebrating the spooky season. To start making a paper plate witch, you will need a paper plate, some colored construction paper, scissors, glue, markers or crayons, and any additional decorations you may want to add. First, take the paper plate and cut out a triangle shape at the top. This will form the witch's hat.

This will form the witch's hat. Next, take a piece of black construction paper and cut out a long, thin rectangle. Roll it up to form a cylinder and glue the ends together, creating the witch's hat.

The countdown for costume making in really on now! Does anyone else feel the burn?? Here's my list as it stands to be finished:

  • top tier and waistband then pettiskirt to my skirt
  • blouse for me
  • corset for me
  • mini witch hat for me.
  • cape/towel looking cape for Sephira's Ponyo costume (you know, a towel, she has that one when they're eating soup. )
  • shoes for Sephira's Ponyo costume
  • Jon's Fujimoto coat and red tie
  • bowtie for my boss
  • skirt for my mother in law

Sllloooowy chipping away at it. -)

This paired up with my previous tutorial on how to make a mini top hat will help you create a super cute witch hat that you can gussy up as much or as little as you want!

I made one a month ago for Azriella's Halloween Dress and just love it. Mini hats are the best! So just follow the mini top hat instructions, omitting the top circle and using the witch hat pattern, instead just over lap the cone piece to your fancy and attach the elastic and brim as the rest of the tutorial suggests :-)

Attach the hat to the paper plate using glue. Next, take another piece of construction paper and cut out two large circles for the witch's eyes. Use markers or crayons to draw on the pupils and eyelashes. Glue the eyes onto the paper plate, just below the hat. Then, cut out a small triangular shape from black construction paper for the witch's nose and glue it below the eyes. To complete the witch's face, cut out a mouth from construction paper and glue it below the nose. Children can get creative with the shape of the mouth, making it smiling, frowning, or wide open in a cackling gesture. They can also add teeth or other details to the mouth using markers or crayons. Now it's time to create the witch's hair. Cut strips of black construction paper and shape them to resemble wild and curly hair. Glue them above the eyes and around the sides of the paper plate. Children can also add additional decorations to the hat, such as glitter, sequins, or stickers, to make it more festive. To make the witch's broomstick, cut a small rectangular shape from brown construction paper and glue it near the bottom of the plate. Then, take another strip of brown construction paper and fold it accordion-style to create the broom bristles. Glue it onto the bottom of the broomstick. Children can further customize their paper plate witch by adding additional decorations or accessories. They can use colored construction paper to cut out a witch's dress or cape and glue it onto the plate. They can also add paper cutouts of bats, spiders, or other Halloween-themed elements to make their witches more spooky. Once the paper plate witch craft is complete, children can proudly display their creations or use them for Halloween decorations. It is also a great opportunity for them to express their creativity, practice their cutting and gluing skills, and learn about different shapes and colors. Overall, making a paper plate witch is a fun and engaging craft activity for kids during Halloween. It allows them to get into the spirit of the season while exploring their artistic side. So gather your materials and get ready to create a bewitchingly good craft!.
