There are repeat cruisers that have been cruising with Disney for over 20 years and to abruptly discontinue presenting those guests as well as first time guests who choose to pay the ever increasing premium to cruise Disney with a Personal Navigator upon checkin without any mention is insulting if you ask me. Oh wait ok - the animation thing is something we would enjoy, but still that s only one thing, and from what I could make out only the one time slot.

Navigator magic tune

Stan's magic of passion extends beyond his work onscreen. He embraces every opportunity to dive deep into his characters, immersing himself in their mindset and emotions. This level of dedication not only enhances his performances but also shows his love and respect for the art of acting.

April 28, 2004 Disney Wonder Daily Navigator

A reader just sent me these photos of a daily Navigator for the Wonder from 2004! I posted them on my Facebook page, but I am making this post for them as well so that I can link to them on my Navigator page.

At that time, the Wonder was alternating 3 & 4 nights Bahamas itineraries from Port Canaveral. Some of the notable things that caught my eye:

-It doesn’t say which characters will be at the character appearances

-there was a cruise director named Jacqui

-early dining was 6:00 instead of 5:45

-Triton’s had a dress code of “jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women”

-Parrot Cay (now Tiana’s Place) and Animator’s Palate had a dress code of “no shorts or jeans”

-Palo was only $10 per person (today it is $40), which makes me shocked that the onboard booking offer was the same as it is today: 10% off plus a $200 credit for 7+ night sailings – they need to adjust that $200 for inflation just like everything else! If the price of Palo has gone up 300%, shouldn’t the onboard credit go up at least a little bit?

-Apparently Wavebands allowed smoking after 9:00 PM

-There were not lifeguards at the pools (which actually weren’t added until late 2013)

I also just received a FULL SET of Navigators for a 7 night sailing on the Magic in March 2002. It will take me some time to get them all organized and ready but stay tuned, they’re coming soon!

Knowing that we’d soon be sailing, I did my best Elsa impersonation and let it go in order to experience whatever onboard Personal Navigator situation there was to experience myself. At least, how things were going on the Disney Fantasy. I cannot speak firsthand about the other ships, however I suspect there was shoreside directive to the fleet. If you followed along with our trip reports, some of what you are about to read will be a repeat, but hang in there, I promise there will be some more.
