Once again Dalton weaves fact and fiction fairly felicitously, with Agatha (Lyndsey Marshal) newly divorced and thinking of branching out from detective novels by writing romance tomes. That decision doesn't sit particularly well with Christie's publishers, who are expecting the latest bestseller to feature Hercule Poirot, and in a nicely written vignette, Dalton clearly shows both Christie's vulnerable, slightly insecure, side, as well as her steeliness as she negotiates the publication of both proposed books. She's already befriended self-described provocateur Katharine Woolley (Katherine Kingsley), whose husband Leonard (Jack Deam) is an archeologist with a dig in Iraq, and when Christie says she wants to "research romance", Katharine suggests there's no better place for that than Iraq.

She s already befriended self-described provocateur Katharine Woolley Katherine Kingsley , whose husband Leonard Jack Deam is an archeologist with a dig in Iraq, and when Christie says she wants to research romance , Katharine suggests there s no better place for that than Iraq. An opening vignette documenting a death has already introduced dashing young archeologist Max Mallowan Jonah Hauer-King , and suffice it to say that once Agatha arrives in Iraq under less than optimum circumstances, she discovers Mallowan dazed and bloody from a recent gunshot.

Reviews for "Love and Magic: The Key to a Fulfilling Life"

1. Emily - 1 Star
I was really disappointed with "Gaze upon a dash of love a dash of magic". The story felt cliché and overdone, and the characters were one-dimensional and unrelatable. The plot was predictable, and there were no surprises or twists to keep me engaged. Overall, I found the book to be boring and lacking any depth. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a captivating and original read.
2. Michael - 2 Stars
I have to say, "Gaze upon a dash of love a dash of magic" did not live up to the hype for me. The writing style was choppy, and the dialogue felt forced and unrealistic. The pacing of the story was off, with too much time spent on insignificant details and not enough on the actual plot. The world-building was also lacking, leaving many unanswered questions. While I appreciated the concept of love and magic intertwining, the execution fell flat. Overall, I think there are better books out there in this genre.
3. Sarah - 2 Stars
I had high hopes for "Gaze upon a dash of love a dash of magic", but unfortunately, it didn't deliver. The romance felt rushed and underdeveloped, with the characters falling in love too quickly without any real reason behind it. The magic aspects of the story were also poorly explained and left me confused. The writing style was average at best, lacking any unique flair or engaging prose. Overall, I found the book to be mediocre, and I don't think I'll be picking up another title by this author in the future.
