Hallmark Channel's merry holiday season continues with the newest "Countdown to Christmas" holiday premiere, "A Magical Christmas Village." The film, starring Alison Sweeney and Luke Macfarlane, premieres Friday night.
The film will be a massive treat for Hallmark fans of course, as it brings two familiar faces to their screens who, despite their impressive array of credits between them, have yet to star in a film together for the network. Fans likely recognize Sweeney for her long-running role as Sami Brady on the soap opera "Days of Our Lives," but she's also a staple when it comes to Hallmark. Credits over the last few years have included "Christmas at Holly Lodge," "Good Morning Christmas!," "Open by Christmas," "The Wedding Veil," "The Wedding Veil Unveiled" and "The Wedding Veil Legacy" on Hallmark Channel. She's also no stranger over on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, where she has starred in the "Murder She Baked" and "The Chronicle Mysteries" films, as well as "Time for You to Come Home for Christmas" and "Time for Them to Come Home for Christmas."
Macfarlane is also no stranger to fans, as his credits on Hallmark Channel in recent years have included "A Show Addict's Christmas," "Just Add Romance," "Sense Sensibility and Snowmen," "A Valentine's Match," "Chateau Christmas," "Taking A Shot At Love" and "Moriah's Lighthouse." He's also starred in some Hallmark Movies & Mysteries titles as well, including "Karen Kingsbury's Maggie's Christmas Miracle" and "Christmas in My Heart." Fans of Netflix holiday films may also recognize him from the 2021 title "Single All the Way."
Marlo Thomas ("It Happened One Christmas") and Maesa Nicholson ("Dying for Chocolate: A Curious Caterer Mystery") also star in the film.

"Summer (Sweeney) is an architect living in a small town where she's raising her young daughter Chloe (Nicholson). When her mother Vivian (Thomas) finds herself in need of a place to live, her orderly life becomes a little less so after inviting Vivian to move in with them during this transition," a synopsis reads. "Upon arrival, Vivian sets up an heirloom, miniature Christmas village resembling their town, and tells Chloe it grants Christmas wishes."
Despite Vivian's assertions that the village is magic seeming like a bit of fiction, things begin to happen that suggest otherwise.
"As Chloe begins setting up the figurines, real-life events seem to mimic the scenes she creates, including Summer's chance meeting with Ryan (Macfarlane), a newcomer to their community," the synopsis continues. "The two quickly learn they share much in common and as they spend more time together, Ryan slowly helps Summer learn to open her heart to love again."
However, the village might also be magical in other ways, as it also improves Summer's other relationships.
"Meanwhile, living under the same roof gives Summer and Vivian the chance to mend fences as the holiday nears and, perhaps with a little help from the magic of the Christmas village, the family will be brought closer together," the synopsis concludes.
