According to the quote above, a little magic can go a long way. I really believe that this is true. Roald Dahl had that magic touch that changed children’s literature forever. Roald Dahl is the type of person that allows children to be taken into a new world and find out about themselves through books. I would say I was one of those children. I remember during our library classes, the librarian would read us different books from different sections of the library. The one day she went over to the fantasy section and picked up the book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I was so excited to hear a part of the book during our story time because I had already seen the movie. My librarian told us that these books would take us into different worlds. They absolutely did. Without Roald Dahl, we would have never heard the word gobblefunk, whizzpopper, or know anything about oompa loompas. And who would have described something as scrumdiddlyumptious if it wasn’t for Roald Dahl. All of the funny word language helped me to create a better vocabulary and understanding of words. Although I wasn’t particularly a lover of books as a child, Roald Dahl’s books were page turners for me because I was just like everyone else who didn’t know what the words meant when I read the books. I loved how some parts of the books had rhymes and a certain rhythm about them that other books that I had read did not. I loved the places that I would go when I was reading his books. I truly believed that I carried away information from all of Roald Dahl's books. In my school, we had the accelerated reader program and I choose to read a lot of the Roald Dahl's books because they entertained me as well as I could comprehend them. I was able to relate to some of the character and that gave me a better sense of what was going on in the book. I love that my librarian introduced my class to this fantasy section of the library because I would have never met The BFG, Willy Wonka, Matilda, or even Roald Dahl as a child in the book, Boy. I think that Roald Dahl was the author that gave me a better appreciation for reading because I was able to enjoy them as well as comprehend what was going on in the story and I cannot thank him enough for that.

I can't stand hunting. I just can't stand it. It doesn't seem right to me that men and boys should kill animals just for the fun they get out of it. So I used to try and stop Philip and William from doing it.
