The Witch of Fern Island Heads to Kickstarter for a Cozy, Open-World Sandbox Adventure

Indie developer Enjoy Studio has revealed a Kickstarter campaign for The Witch of Fern Island, an open-world RPG adventure that takes after cozy games like Stardew Valley and My Time at Portia. The Polish studio says this lush sandbox experience wants to give players a magical world they could lose themselves in, with colorful characters and cultures to learn about. Players step into the witchy shoes of Abrill, a young girl who wants to become a certified witch but must first impress the Academy of Witches, pass exams, and learn the intricacies of Fern Island.

Players can explore several biomes at their own pace while engaging in fishing, farming, photography, archeology, and more. A daily calendar system that includes seasons, holidays, and festivals will let you partake in these activities endlessly if you’d like. Abrill’s abilities and tools will enhance each activity, and players will eventually acquire a flying broom. Additionally, “During your stay on Fern Island, you can take part in witchcraft practices such as performing magic rituals, exploring the secrets of the island or helping culturally diverse people.” You can also take a timeout to customize your home. Further details are available on the Kickstarter page.

Expect The Witch of Fern Island to come to early access on PC in Q1 2023, with a final release on PC and consoles scheduled for Q1 2024. The Kickstarter is live now with a roughly $15,000 goal and runs through December 8, so if you’re looking for a storybook witch adventure, consider supporting the team. Reviews for "Black Cats and Broomsticks: Witch House Decor Inspiration"

1. Jane - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with the "Wutch House Decorating Ideas" book. The ideas provided were not practical and seemed more like a showcase of extravagant and over-the-top designs that would require a huge budget and professional help. I was hoping for some simple and creative ideas that I could implement myself, but it was filled with unrealistic and impractical suggestions. Overall, I felt like the book didn't cater to the average homeowner looking for practical and affordable decorating ideas.
2. Mike - 1 star - I found "Wutch House Decorating Ideas" to be a complete waste of my money. The book was filled with outdated and tacky design suggestions that would only appeal to a very specific taste. The color palettes and furniture choices were not my style at all, and I couldn't find anything that I would consider incorporating into my own home. The book lacked variety and failed to provide any fresh and innovative ideas. I would not recommend it to anyone looking for modern and tasteful decorating inspiration.
3. Sarah - 2 stars - I was quite disappointed with "Wutch House Decorating Ideas." The book seemed to focus more on quantity rather than quality. There were so many ideas presented, but most of them lacked depth and originality. It felt like a compilation of generic and cookie-cutter designs that could be found in any home decor magazine. I was hoping for some unique and inspiring ideas that would set this book apart, but unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. It's not worth the price for the lack of originality and creativity it offers.
4. Tom - 3 stars - "Wutch House Decorating Ideas" had some interesting concepts, but the execution was lacking. The book had a lot of potential, but the photographs and descriptions were not clear and often left me confused about the intended design. The instructions provided were also vague and didn't offer enough guidance on how to recreate the looks. Overall, while some of the ideas seemed promising, the lack of clarity and guidance made it difficult to fully appreciate and implement them. I would recommend this book only to those who have a strong understanding of interior design and can fill in the gaps themselves.
5. Emily - 2 stars - "Wutch House Decorating Ideas" was a disappointment to me. While the book had visually appealing photos, the content and ideas presented lacked depth and practicality. The suggestions seemed more like temporary trends rather than timeless design choices. Additionally, there was a lack of diversity in terms of different home styles and aesthetics. The book predominantly featured a specific design style, leaving little room for those with different tastes. Overall, it was a letdown, and I wouldn't consider it a valuable resource for homeowners seeking genuine and practical decorating ideas.
