Hogwarts Legacy has 20 Ancient Magic Hotspot locations. Completing all Ancient Magic Hotspots is needed for 100% Challenge Completion and to unlock extra Ancient Magic Slots. You can start getting these collectibles after completing Main Quest #23: Percival Rackham’s Trial. Once you have completed the main quest you can fly all around the open world and head to each Ancient Magical Hotspot.

At the locations you must interact with a pool of magic, then collect 3 nearby Magic Runes by walking through them. None of the Ancient Magic Hotspots are missable. You can still collect all of them after the story in free-roam. They get marked when unfogging the map.

You can check your progress in any area by zooming all the way out on the map and looking at the collectible counter. To claim the Ancient Magic Slot rewards, open the Challenges Menu > Exploration > Collect Ancient Magic Traces > click the reward icons. There are 3 Ancient Magic Slots total unlocked from the Ancient Magic Hotspot challenges.
