Exploring the Legends of the Bell Witch Haunting

By admin

The Bell Witch haunting, also known as the Bell Witch curse, is a famous paranormal phenomenon that occurred in the early 19th century in Adams, Tennessee. The haunting revolves around the Bell family, who claimed to be tormented and haunted by a malevolent spirit or entity. The Bell Witch haunting began in 1817 with strange noises and unexplained disturbances in the Bell family's farmhouse. These disturbances included knocking sounds on the walls, furniture being moved, and strange voices speaking to family members. As the haunting intensified, the Bells sought help from their neighbors and even invited the local community to witness the supernatural occurrences. The Bell Witch was often described as a poltergeist-type entity that had the ability to communicate and interact with the family.

kusōzu, death paintings: composition of decay

The Cursed Womb: Death Paintings (Jutai Kusōzu, 呪胎九相図) are nine special-grade cursed objects born of hybrid human and cursed spirit blood. Kusōzu (九相図, Pictures of the Nine Stages [of a Decaying Corpse]) is an unapologetically macabre and visceral genre of traditional Japanese art that emerged in the thirteenth century, influenced by Buddhism’s core tenet about life’s brevity and the inevitability of death. Acknowledging one’s mortality and ephemerality is vital to achieving Enlightenment.

The Buddhist text Discourse on the Great Wisdom was exceptionally influential in the development of and spiritual contemplation on the nine (9) stages of corporeal decay:

i. Chōsō 脹相—distension, corpse expands and becomes bloated due to generation of gases

ii. Esō 壊相—rupture, corpse decays and flesh begins tearing

iii. Kechizusō 血塗相—exudation of blood, corpse is further gamaged and begins leaking various fluids

iv. Nōransō 膿爛相—putrefaction, corpse begins dissolving as decomposition progresses

v. Shōosō 青瘀相—discoloration and desiccation, corpse becomes discolored and begins drying out

vi. Tansō 噉相—consumption by animals and birds, corpse is devoured by birds and beasts

vii. Sansō 散相—dismemberment, corpse is divided into pieces and shattered as result of consumption

viii. Kotsusō 骨相—bones, corpse is skeletal with no blood or sebum

ix. Shōsō 焼相—parched to dust, corpse is nothing more than ashen remains

Later publications, such as Discourse on Mahāyāna Meditation and Contemplation, preserved this concept of decomposition in its teachings about impermanence and the transience of life, and these lessons would later inspire Pure Land Buddhism.

Prior to chapter 138 of Jujutsu Kaisen, when a fourth brother named Shōsō was mentioned in passing, the known Cursed Womb brothers were Chōsō, Esō and Kechizu[so]—otherwise known as the first three stages of decomposition.

—esō and kechizu’s character design

Esō and Kechizu’s character designs are reminscient of the decomposition stages after which they are named. Kechizu’s bloated, discolored appearance embodies more than just the kechizusō phase of corporeal decay (namely, chōsō and shōosō) but the blood leaking profusely from his expression certainly befits his name.

Esō’s greater resemblance to a normal human may be indicative of the relatively early onset of rupture in the process of decomposition. That is, initial decay and flesh tearing occurs when the corpse still retains its recognizability as human.

—supreme rot technique (蝕爛腐術極番, shokuran fujutsu gokunoban)

Esō’s trademark characteristic—the grotesque face decorating his back—is an auxiliary ability the innate Supreme Rot Technique (蝕爛腐術極番, Shokuran Fujutsu Gokunoban) which he and Kechizu both utilize.

Kechizu spits (re: leaks) corrosive blood from his larger, second mouth, whereas Esō wields it in more technical fashion: Wing King (翅王, Shiō) creates vector lines of corrosive blood that can be used offensively or for enhance maneuverability, and Decay (朽, Kyu) causes opponents to decompose inside-out when ingested via wound or membrane.

Their technique quite literally induces the process of decomposition, leaving nothing but parched bones in its wake.

Chapter Text

Killing human is a no go. With his new life as a human and no longer a cursed spirit Chousou have vowed to be a good big brother for his one and only siblings left, Itadori Yuuji. Though sometimes there are times when the missions he is assigned to made to have kill human but those are Curse Users so in a way he's just making the amount of bad people became smaller. So he doesn't feel guilt as if he let them go they are going to hurt more people or plan something worse.

Today is just like another mission. A cursed user somehow able to got their hand into an unregistered Special Grade Cursed Object and have been using it to harm others. Though what this cursed item is still unknown but the amount of victims is growing so they can't just lay low to have more information. They need to act fast.

In today missions Chousou is sent to do it with Yuuji, which is something he is very happy with as his younger brother have been quite busy with missions and studies.

Capturing the cursed user is easy for their caliber. The troublesome part is the cursed object that the cursed spirit have fused with a human woman. Making the cursed object became half human half cursed spirit just like Chousou. A battle ensue and she's able to keep up with Chousou combat ability. When Chousou hits the half cursed spirit the two of them stops and freeze.

An image appear in his mind as he send a lethal blow to her. It's the usual scenery of Chousou and his siblings, just eating together and hanging out outdoor. Having a family picnic with all the brothers. There's a change in the scenery. It's the woman, the half cursed spirit he's fighting with. She's there with them, smiling and having fun chatting together.

He know what this is. It's the second time this have happened.

Before the half curse spirit woman fell unconscious to the ground Chousou quickly grab hold of her so she wouldn't fall. Quickly he checks up on her condition as she just received a fatal attack from him. She's breathing, there's still heart beat, her cursed energy is still there. It made Chousou sigh in relief as he hold her close and rest his head on her shoulder. His hand is still shaking as he was afraid of the worse scenery to happen. Of him killing his younger sibling without knowledge.

Yuji, came into the room where Chousou is fighting. There's no more sound of battle so he was expecting Chousou to have the half cursed spirit exorcised or captured. He didn't expect to see Chousou to be on his knees, holding the woman very close, and crying. "Whoa! Chousou! What are you doing hugging her like that!? Why are you crying!?"

Hearing his younger brother worries Chousou quickly wipe his tears and look at him with a smile. "I'm just glad, Yuuji. Meet your new sister."

"That's glad to-" Yuuji became silent as he repeat Chousou word in his head before screaming in surprise at the news.

Cursed Objects (Jujutsu Kaisen Supplement)

With the exception of Cursed Tools and cursed corpses, items that contain cursed energy are referred to as cursed objects. Cursed objects are ranked in the same way as cursed tools, based on the strength of the cursed energy they contain. Particularly dangerous cursed objects, such as Sukuna's fingers, are ranked special grade.

Sukuna's Fingers [ edit ]

All 20 Sukuna's Fingers, [1]

The twenty individual fingers of Sukuna's original original body from the Heian Era. Each one contains immense cursed energy and is capable of attracting cursed spirits as soon as they are unsealed. While unsealed, all cursed spirits with 8 or less in their Wisdom scores within 1000 ft. of the finger will be attracted to it and will do anything they can to consume it. If a Cursed Spirit consumes the finger, it will become a finger bearer, increasing it's power by astronomical levels. It's Strength, Dexterity, Constitution and Charisma scores increase by 2 per finger eaten(including their maximum), and their Cursed Energy maximum is increased by 5.

In the case a creature that's not a construct or a Cursed Spirit that orally consumes one of these fingers, they must make a DC30 Constitution saving throw. On a failure they will die instantly and the finger is puked out of the body, completely unscarred. On a success however, the body of Ryomen Sukuna will be incarnated on the creature, making it become the new Sukuna's Vessel. The creature then makes a DC25 Wisdom saving throw, on a failure it loses complete control of it's body, it's mind and consciousness will dissipate completely as Sukuna will control the body now. It will gain the Cursed Energy, cursed techniques, of Sukuna, along with all of the creature's previous features. On a success however, the creature can resist Sukuna with it's sheer willpower. The creature will increase it's Cursed Energy maximum by 5 per finger, and will gain one level in the Jujutsu Sorcerer class in case they did not have any levels in it.

Someone who could resist Sukuna is now cursed to live a life with the king of curses in it's mind. Every time the creature rolls for initiative, they must make a DC25 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, Sukuna takes control of their body for 1 minute, and you can only redo the saving throw after the end of the minute.

For each finger the creature consumes after the first, it doesn't need to make a Constitution saving throw but it must keep making Wisdom saving throws.

Cursed Womb: Death Painting [ edit ]

The Death Paintings, [2]

Cursed wombs born from a pregnant woman in the Meiji Era which contain human DNA. They can incarnate when ingested by any humanoid creature, taking the form of a powerful cursed spirit with a physical body. If a humanoid type creature orally ingests this, they must immediately make a DC 30 Constitution saving throw. On a failure, they will transform into a Cursed Spirit with a physical body, making they lose their body's control but not changing their creature type. On a success, the creature will become a Cursed Vessel, their Cursed Energy maximum is increased by their proficiency bonus. They will also gain a level in the Jujutsu Sorcerer class.

Prison Realm [ edit ]

The Prison Realm being held, [3]

Prison Realm is the final remains of the Buddhist Monk Genshin. Referred to as a "taboo object", it is a living barrier so powerful that there is nothing it cannot seal. In its unused form, the cursed object appears as a cube small enough to fit in a person's hand and is wrapped in talisman constraints.

For the prison realm to take effect you must place it down on the ground, and say the command "Gate Open". Your desired target you want to seal must stay in a 15ft. radius of it for 1 minute. After this condition is met, it will then jump at a target within 15ft. of your choice, they will be restrained and cannot use any features fueled by Cursed Energy or cast spells as a mass of flesh transfers to the target's body in a flash, ensnaring them. After that, you just need to say the command "Gate Close", reverting Prison Realm back to it's small form and trapping the target indefinitely. While inside the pocket dimension of the Prison Realm, time doesn't pass and the sealed target is surrounded by dark skeletons and an ominous atmosphere. Prison Realm can not be used again unless the creature inside kills itself.

Once Prison Realm has sealed something, the authority to open it rests with the bearer of the Front. Only with something that negates cursed techniques such as the Inverted Spear of Heaven that the prison Realm may be destroyed and therefore opened.
