Today I reached the 2,000 follower milestone. Thank you to all who give my writing a spare minute of your time. It's greatly appreciated! I didn't have anything going on and it felt like 'that kind of day' today so I decided to do my best to beat my personal record of five film reviews in 24 hours. Enter number six, The Curse of Robert the Doll, a 2022 documentary about an alleged haunted doll that is famous in that corner of the horror community who enjoys supposed real life supernatural phenomena. I find myself in and out of those rabbit holes from time to time so I am familiar with Robert the Doll. This documentary almost hinges on mocumentary…

Absolute crock. When she said “Bobby” and the dude said the nanny was Bahamian and that’s how she said “baby” in her accent…. I rolled my eyes and should have turned it off there.

I'll be dead in the cold, cold ground before I stop adding Discovery+ originals to Letterboxd. “Robert the Doll Victim” is a great descriptor for an interviewee. 26/100

Karma’s got it’s kiss, and it comes in the name of Robert the Doll! But let’s be real: people don’t follow the rules of a museum exhibit and then blame all their misfortunes afterwards on…a doll? Sure Jan.

THE FUCKING HEAD TURN ROBERT DID MY GOD this is so funny but it isn’t supposed to be. also why didn’t anybody just burn the little fuck?

Was this a high-school project? Only the last scene is worth anything, including a nice creepy tune. The rest? Why? ———————— Scavenger Hunt 98 / 5. Watch a movie that doesn’t have a backdrop

Extremamente sensacionalista. O boneco virando a cabeça mds. Porém não deixa de ser interessante pela história.

Don't worry, this is not my real Halloween watch. Just something to keep me company while sorting through some Lego over the past few days.

When you click on "suggested for you" and Cindy Kaza's name is in the blurb and you think, ok well go on then, only to suffer through a terrible thing with way to many cringeworthy flashback reenactments that are too long and too many that they give the "aha they needed to reach the 90min mark" insight. And Kaza only makes like a brief walk-by analysis that neither gives or takes but more so lures suckers like me adhering to "suggestions" to waste another 90minutes of my life. The only thing scary is the algorithm and its cursed grip on my watching habits.

i loooooooove robert the doll lore and the cunty historical reenactments went hard. i love goofy americans

Reviews for "The Curse of the Lost City: A Quest for Answers"

1. Amanda - 2 stars - Once Upon a Curse was a disappointment for me. The storyline felt weak and predictable, and the characters were flat and lacked depth. I found it hard to connect with any of them. The writing style was also bland and lacked the creativity and imagination I was expecting from a fantasy novel. Overall, I was left feeling underwhelmed and wouldn't recommend it to fellow readers looking for a gripping and captivating read.
2. Max - 2 stars - Once Upon a Curse failed to live up to the hype for me. The pacing was slow, and the plot seemed to meander without a clear direction. The world-building was also lacking, with little description or development of the fantasy realm. The characters, while initially intriguing, quickly became one-dimensional and fell into clichéd tropes. I struggled to stay engaged with the story and ultimately felt unsatisfied with the resolution. Overall, I found Once Upon a Curse to be forgettable and wouldn't recommend it to avid fantasy readers.
3. Sophie - 3 stars - Once Upon a Curse had some potential, but it fell short for me. The concept was interesting, blending fairy tale elements with a cursed world, but the execution lacked finesse. The writing was average at best, with clunky dialogue and repetitive descriptions. The romance subplot felt forced and underdeveloped, taking away from the main plot. While there were a few exciting moments, overall, the story failed to hold my attention. I wanted to like Once Upon a Curse more than I did, but unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations.
