Once upon a time, in a quaint village nestled deep in a mystical forest, lived a petite remaining witch named Sofia. Sofia was the last of her kind, as witches had become nearly extinct due to a long-standing witch hunt led by the villagers. Sofia, with her delicate frame and shimmering emerald eyes, possessed a formidable amount of magical powers. Despite her diminutive size, her abilities were unmatched by any other living being. She could summon gusts of wind, ignite flames with a mere flick of her wrist, and heal the most stubborn of wounds with a simple touch. Yet, despite her immense power, Sofia was gentle and kind-hearted.

I cannot speak for Apple but when you think about it, many fewer people will use a mouse with a laptop when the built in track pad is so close to hand. Go to Systems Prefs Accessibility Scroll down to mouse and track pad click on that and check the box at the bottom of the R H panel which says ignore track pad when mouse is present.

Yet, despite her immense power, Sofia was gentle and kind-hearted. The villagers, however, were filled with fear and prejudice towards witches. They believed that all magic was inherently evil and sought to eliminate anything associated with it.

Magic Mouse compatibility with Late 2013 iMac

Currently using an old 'Magic Mouse' Version 1, Model No: A1296 (the one with AA Batteries) which has started to 'lose connection' with my late 2013 27 inch iMac which is running macOS Catalina Version 10.15.7.

Purchased a new 'Magic Mouse', Model No: A1657, with a view of replacing my current old Magic Mouse (A1296) as the specifications say it will work with OS X 10.11 or later which my iMac is - Version 10.15.7.

New Magic Mouse (A1657) comes with USB-C to Lightening Cable. My late 2013 iMac only has USB-A ports. To pair the new 'Magic Mouse' the supplied instructions say the following:

"To pair your mouse with your Mac, use the USB-C to Lightening Cable that came with your mouse. Plug the Lightening end into the Lightening port on the bottom of your mouse. Plug the USB-C end into a USB-C port on your Mac. Slide the on/off switch to on (so green is visible). Your mouse will pair automatically with your Mac. After the mouse is paired, disconnect the cable to use your mouse wirelessly".

So at this stage I'm unable to pair the new Magic Mouse to my iMac as previously mentioned my iMac only has USB-A ports UNLESS I now go and purchase a USB-A Cable with USB-C connector.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Am I correct in saying that I now need an additional cable to get the new mouse 'paired' with my late 2013 27 inch iMac?

if you have an iPhone and the charging cable, that will do. The mouse does not take USB-C ; its lightening connector.

Sofia was often called a menace, a wicked creature, even though she had never caused harm to anyone. Isolated from society, Sofia sought solace in her enchanting cottage at the edge of the village. Surrounded by her mystical artifacts and books filled with ancient spells, Sofia dedicated her time to honing her magical abilities and expanding her knowledge. She yearned for acceptance but understood that the villagers' fear was deeply ingrained. One fateful day, the village was struck by a devastating plague. The villagers, desperate for a solution, turned to Sofia as their last hope. They knew that her magical healing abilities were their only chance at survival. Reluctantly, Sofia emerged from her seclusion and ventured into the midst of the village. As Sofia walked through the hushed streets, the villagers stared at her in awe and apprehension. They had never seen her powers in action before, and now they depended on her for their lives. Sofia's heart filled with both compassion and a yearning for understanding. For weeks, she tirelessly worked to cure the afflicted, pouring every ounce of her magical energy into healing. The villagers witnessed her selflessness firsthand, realizing that she held no malice in her heart. They saw that her powers were not to be feared but to be revered. As the plague slowly receded, the villagers' fear transformed into gratitude and respect. Their perception of witches had changed forever, all thanks to Sofia's unwavering determination to help save their lives. Sofia had overcome prejudice and changed the hearts of an entire community with her pure heart and incredible abilities. From that day forward, Sofia was no longer seen as a petite remaining witch but as a beloved guardian, the village's source of strength and wisdom. The villagers sang songs of her courage, passed down tales of her extraordinary powers, and taught their children to embrace the beauty of magic. Sofia's story became a legend, a reminder that appearances can be deceiving and that judgement based on fear leads to ignorance. She remained a cherished part of the village, forever revered as the petite remaining witch whose light could not be extinguished..
