I can't say how many times I have watched it. One of the best scenes is where Will and his best friend Chuckie argue over the fact that Will wants to continue his life in South Boston despite the fact he is a math prodigy (on top of a lot of other things). Chuckie tells Will: "You don't owe it to yourself, man. You owe it to me. Cuz tomorrow I'm gonna wake up, and I'll be 50, and I'll still be doin' this shit. And that's all right. That's fine. I mean, you're sittin' on a winnin' lottery ticket. And you're too much of a pussy to cash it in, and that's bullshit. 'Cause I'd do fuckin' anything to have what you got. So would any of these fuckin' guys. It'd be an insult to us if you're still here in 20 years. Hangin' around here is a fuckin' waste of your time." In some ways, Chuckie is speaking to all of us—we all have our own lottery tickets, yet we are afraid to cash them in. We continue doing what we are doing rather than doing something different—even though it would mean creating the life we want. And don't tell me you're not a math prodigy.
