Baptism is a religious ceremony performed by Christians and is considered an essential part of the Christian faith. It is a rite of initiation into the Christian community and symbolizes the forgiveness of sins and the spiritual cleansing of the individual. While baptism is primarily associated with Christianity, its origins can be traced back to pagan rituals and practices. Many ancient religions and cultures had similar rituals involving the submersion or sprinkling of water as a form of purification or initiation. In ancient Egypt, the ritual of purification through water was commonly practiced. This involved bathing in sacred pools or rivers to cleanse oneself of impurities and sins.

This involved bathing in sacred pools or rivers to cleanse oneself of impurities and sins. Similar practices were also found in ancient Mesopotamia and Assyria, where ritualistic washing with water was believed to cleanse an individual of evil spirits or sins. The ancient Greeks and Romans also had their own version of baptism.

Foxtalestimes

An idea for furry species (or two, since one isn't super common)
[+] Cat (Felines, whatever) Play into their sense of hearing and their high sensitivity to sudden noises and movements.

Pros:
Heightened sense of hearing, allowing them to "hear" enemies in distant rooms, and thus avoid them easier
Claw attack that deals increased damage when unarmed (like khajiit)
Perk that may make it easier to find certain hiding spots. Or hiding spots exclusive to the transformation
Improved eyesight in the dark. Could go in hard with the "hiding space" perk, or it could make it easier to find items in the dark, or reduce fear when in the dark
PC's body is slender and smaller than usual, allowing them to slip into tight places they wouldn't normally be able to get into

Cons:
Heightened sense of hearing and spatial awareness also makes the PC get scared of sudden sounds and movements. Depending on their stats, sudden loud noises or people appearing behind them can make them run to a different room, scream from fear (alerting enemies or the witch), have an accident, or break out into tears. In other words, the PC is VERY skittish.
Increased eyesight in the dark makes even modestly bright lights irritating to look at. Combat disadvantage when in brightly lit rooms, and potential to miss items or hiding spots
PC easily gets into mischief, like knocking glasses or vases off shelves, even if the PC isn't actively trying to do so. Breaking items in certain rooms could prompt "punishments", or alerting enemies/witch to PC's location
PC has a smaller body, which makes friendly NPCs mistake them for someone younger often.

Progression: (Assuming you're going for gradual transformation)
Stage One: The PC will likely start with cat ears and a tail. Slightly increased hearing allows for minor buffs like hearing a short distance away. Enhanced eyesight is good enough to provide minor buffs to PC's vision, but not good enough to cause significant enough discomfort to warrant big debuffs
Stage two: PC starts developing paws instead of hands and feet. Shoes don't fit the same, if at all (unless there's some kind of excuse or alternative). PC develops whiskers and their nose changes to resemble a cat's, though their facial structure remains largely the same. Tufts of fur grow on the PC's body, but doesn't overtake it yet. Sense of hearing reaches as good as it gets, giving the PC the full benefits and the full drawbacks. Player has rare occurances of mischief, which can get them into trouble easily. Especially bright lights bother the PC, though most room lighting is tolerable still. PC has easier time fitting into slender places, though due to their smaller size, they're more often mistaken for a child (or a kitten).

Stage 3:
Player now has fur and an elongated face. The transformation is complete and they're now a cat furry. They have the full list of buffs as well as the full list of debuffs. Friendly NPCs very easily mistake the PC for a kitten because of their size, and "scares" from the PC's skittishness are frequent.

It goes without saying, though I might as well say it anyways, that everything in the pros, the cons, and the progression may be changed, added to, or removed by the game creator for any reason. I'm only trying to strike inspiration and give ideas, not force something on the creator. Add stages in between or remove them altogether, it matters not [+] Snow Leopard (snep) Play into Snow Leopard goofiness and proclivity to over react.

Pros:
PC will be rewarded for biting their tail and keeping it in their mouth. Can help calm PC or keep them quiet and content (think the pacifier mechanic from SPDC)
PC will move more quietly and is able to sneak around more efficiently
PC can win the favor of friendly NPCs (potential party members) with unique dialog choices (if dialogue is a thing) or because of how they act.
(Assuming sleeping to recover health like in SPDC) PC gets additional buffs from sleeping when there's a party member with them (look up snow leopards cuddling, it's adorable)
PC gets unarmed claw attack that deals bonus damage.
PC is very comfortable in colder places (assuming there are any) and gets increasing buffs and advantages the colder it is (bonus points if there's snow)

Cons:
PC has the ability to get lost. The map may be hidden to them, or moving around certain rooms may put them in a place they're not expecting to go (Thing TBOI Curse of the Maze or Curse of the Lost)
PC tends to over react to things. Similar to the cat, enemies "sneak attacking" them or getting the first hit may prompt them to scream or jump in surprise, giving the enemy an advantage or alerting the witch to the PC's wearabouts.
The PC's tail is a double edged sword. While biting it can calm them or make them happy, it also regresses them VERY slowly, and not biting their tail (at later stages) will make the PC upset (similar to the pacifier mechanics in SPDC)
PC is more uncomfortable in hotter areas (assuming there are any), and has increasingly more debuffs and disadvantages the hotter it is
The PC has rather large paws, making handling small or intricate items difficult (kind of like decreasing fine motor skills)

Progression:
Similar to the cat in terms of appearance. This is getting real long though and my fingers hurt from holding my phone up, so the abilities follow the cat progression too. Weak buffs and little to no debunks stage one, stronger buffs and noticeable debunks stage two, and full effects stage three Hope ya like the two ideas. As I said in the cat post, all of this can be changed or modified by the creator, and if anyone wants to modify either with their own ideas, that'd be neat too!

In Greek mythology, the River Styx was considered sacred and believed to have the power to purify and cleanse. Romans practiced the ritual of immersing newborns in water as a way to ensure their protection and purification. The influence of these pagan beliefs and practices can be seen in the early Christian church. As Christianity spread and incorporated converts from various cultures and backgrounds, elements of these pre-existing rituals were adapted and incorporated into Christian baptism. For example, the act of immersion in water during baptism can be traced back to the ancient practices of submersion or bathing found in the pagan rituals. Similarly, the idea of cleansing and purification through water is a common theme found in both pagan and Christian beliefs. However, it is important to note that while baptism may have pagan origins, it has taken on new meaning within the Christian faith. For Christians, baptism represents not just a physical cleansing but also a spiritual rebirth and initiation into the community of believers. It is a symbolic act that represents the individual's commitment to their faith and their union with Christ. In conclusion, while the origins of baptism can be traced back to pagan rituals and practices, it has evolved and taken on new meaning within the context of Christianity. It is a vital sacrament that represents the forgiveness of sins and the spiritual rebirth of the individual..
