In 2007, Scholastic released the first Puff the Magic Dragon children s book with illustration by French artist Eric Puybaret using the lyrics of the Yarrow- and Lipton-penned song as the story. The weepy-sounding guitar lick is provided courtesy of Richard Tandy, who was somehow persuaded to take his hands off his various keyboards to pick up a guitar.
With the help of her magical friends, Pippy sets off on a journey to save her village from an evil witch. In the second book, "Pippy and the Enchanted Forest," Pippy is called upon to help the forest animals who are suffering from an unknown illness. With her magical powers, Pippy uncovers the mystery behind the illness and finds a solution to save the forest.

So we’ll say at the beginning that this list doesn’t purport to be the definitive top 100 songs of the 60s. Instead, what we’re hoping to provide is a window into a decade that changed music forever and a pathway for future discovery.
Two important things that are worth mentioning. The first: We wanted each song we included to have some sort of popular impact, either in the decade it was released (or importance in the following decades). That means most of the jazz you’ll find on this list hit the Billboard charts. The second: We’ve only allowed one song per artist in an effort to pay tribute to as many folks as possible.
