#ProPlantTips for Care:
Easy to grow Crape Myrtles, sometimes spelled as one word or as Crepe Myrtle, need full sun for the strongest growth and the most blooms! Provide a very well-drained location with regular moisture access for your new plant, then after your plant is established, you should only need to supply supplemental moisture during extreme drought. Topping the soil layer off with a 3-4 inch deep layer of arborist mulch will greatly reduce moisture evaporation and keep the roots cool in summer and insulated in the winter.
Purple Magic can be kept just about any size you'd like with yearly pruning in the early spring before it starts growing. Blooming on new wood, you can even trim your shrub close to the ground and watch as it bounces back quickly! Deadhead blooms to be gifted with a rebloom in late summer, or just to keep the shrub tidier.
Fertilize each spring with a flowering shrub fertilizer but keep lawn fertilizer away due to the high nitrogen causing excessive leafy growth and impeding flowering. As for powdery mildew, Crape Myrtles are developed with a strong resistance to it, but situating your shrub in the morning sun to dry the leaves and in an area with good air circulation helps significantly!
- Full Sun For The Most Blooms
- Widely Adaptable To Any Well-Drained Soil
- Drought Tolerant Once Established
- Prune Early Spring
- Deer Don't Prefer the Taste

Reviews for "Experience the Magic of Magic Island in Honolulu, HI (96815)"
1. Mary Johnson - 1 star
I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Magic Island in Honolulu. The beach was overcrowded, with loud music blaring from nearby parties. The sand was littered with garbage and seaweed, making it unpleasant to walk on or even find a spot to lay down. The water was not as clear as I had heard, with debris floating in it. Additionally, the restroom facilities were dirty and poorly maintained. Overall, I would not recommend visiting Magic Island if you are looking for a peaceful and clean beach experience.
2. Jake Thompson - 2 stars
I have visited many beaches in Hawaii but Magic Island in Honolulu was a letdown. The beach itself was quite small and there was very limited shade available. The water was not as pristine as I had hoped, and there were certain areas where it smelled strongly of fish. Furthermore, the beach was situated right next to a busy road, so the noise from the traffic was distracting. Overall, the lack of tranquility and the underwhelming beach conditions were a major disappointment. I would suggest exploring other options if you are looking for a more enjoyable beach experience in Honolulu.
3. Sarah Miller - 2 stars
Magic Island in Honolulu did not live up to the hype for me. It was far too crowded and noisy for my liking, with many families and groups of tourists taking up the limited space. The beach itself was not well-maintained, with trash scattered about and a noticeable lack of restroom facilities. Moreover, the water was rather murky, making it unappealing for swimming or snorkeling. I found the overall atmosphere to be chaotic and far from the serene beach experience I was expecting. I would recommend considering other beaches in the area if you are seeking a more relaxing and pleasant day by the sea.
