After the very impressing opening frame, I was immediately let down by the main character’s voice acting. Every time he found a creepy clue or uncovered news of an evil deed, he’d blurt something out that sounded like a high-pitched, NPR radio commentator in a Valley Girl dialect. It was that annoying. On top of that, since the rest of the sound design is spot-on, our friend’s nasally-toned voice came off as particularly jarring when it came to affecting the overall ambiance of terror.

Simple task but actually hard to triumph as your own fear can be your enemy as well. With the frequent appearance of gore and jumpscare contents, be advised that this is not suitable to be played for all ages. The Dark Occult is as intense as Doom Eternal.

In The Dark Occult game, you will explore the Atkinson House and investigate the suspicious occurrences surrounding the death of its owner. But upon entering the house, the strong evil force is already dominating as it forbids you to leave the premises. With murderous intent, the demonic woman will stalk and track your every move inside the house, ready to attack you anytime.
You must be vigilant as she’s just lurking around, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. Quickly finding and destroying the satanic artifacts will give you a bigger chance to survive ‘til the end and be free from the devil. Take note that the nightmare gets stronger and psychologically abusive, it is also a sign that you are coming closer to the total liberation you have been longing for.
This psycho-horror game presents a unique non-linear progression style wherein you can roam around the house with numerous paths to approach. Quests are not required to be solved following a certain order. From one player to another, the gameplay will be different in each playthrough time. Adding greatly to the game’s angst is the detailed visual graphics, timely audio, and Gothic setting it showcases.
Survive ‘til the end
The key to ending your character’s misery in The Dark Occult is discovering and eliminating the demonic artifacts. You should be fast and alert to look for it at the same time, strong enough to withstand all the jump scares they set within the entire gameplay. As mentioned, this game is not suitable for players with frail hearts as it's packed with violence and bloodshed contents.

Which brings me to the final part of the game. Having me replay the exact same areas of the game I just did moments ago is not fun. Its not like those areas transport any important story after all. Everything is told before that point through notes. It is just there for me to do stuff. When I had to find my way through a giant maze on a time limit I almost lost it. Its just not fun at this point. I felt I was doing chores.
