Os registros audiovisuais são examinados aqui como instrumento e subproduto da ação administrativa, e como prova disso. Esta é uma abordagem bastante nova e necessária. Este é um livro importante para os arquivistas brasileiros porque compara e faz sentido das abordagens tomadas ao longo do tempo no Brasil para a gestão de registros audiovisuais, comparando-os com as perspectivas contemporâneas em outros países, como França e Portugal. No entanto, também é um livro importante para arquivistas de outros países (desde que possam ler português) como um exemplo da maneira como eles podem refletir sobre a abordagem de seu próprio país à criação e gestão de seu próprio material audiovisual.
