Floating Witches Hats
The best part about the floating witch hats is that you can put these anywhere inside or outside your home. They instantly level up the spooky vibe. I used a large needle to thread the clear elastic jewelry cord through the top of the hat to hang them and attach the tea lights. You want to make a knot on the inside at the point of the hat so the cord doesn’t move. Pro tip: grab these tea lights that have a remote. It’s a pain to turn all the lights on and off one by one.
To adhere them to your ceiling inside I recommend using small command hooks so you don’t end up ripping the paint off your ceiling. You can use regular clear packing tape on a porch or a ceiling you don’t mind potentially messing up. These are light enough to hang a few from an indoor light fixture with a knot, or even on a tree outside!
Floating Harry Potter Candle Sticks
Another fun optical illusion, the Harry Potter floating candle sticks. The setup is very similar to the witch hats, but you must use fishing wire. I would also suggest using smaller, lighter battery-powered candlesticks. The ones I used are beautiful but they have real wax on the outside and take two batteries so it was very hard to get them to hang without falling (cue A LOT of clear packing tape). I also used the jewelry cord I had from the hats and the knots literally slip out because of the weight. Don’t make this mistake!
Spooky Details
This easy stick-on, no damage, bats for your walls, mirrors, bookcases, etc. are the perfect spooky edgy neutral Halloween home decor. This year I put them on my framed art as well to create more dimension.
Black or white gauze cloth is probably the most inexpensive item to add to your home. The texture makes everything a bit more creepy and can be used as a coffee or dining table runner, hug from curtain rods, fans, light fixtures and draped over furniture in your home.

Skulls are a classic but I love these eyeballs. They add the perfect amount of creepy to your neutral edgy Halloween home decor. Last year I had them center my dining room table, and this year I have them in a large wooden bowl on my living room coffee table.

I love the skeleton hands for place settings and I used the black feather wreath as a base for my black and white glass pumpkin. All my glass pumpkins are from HomeGoods, they are so much more expensive online so I highly recommend purchasing this in-store.
