The Tragic Downfall of The Disastrous Witch 1998: A Lesson in Hubris

By admin

Once upon a time, in the quaint village of Bloomington, there lived a witch named Hilda. Hilda was not your typical witch who delighted in casting spells and brewing potions; she had a knack for causing chaos and disaster wherever she went. The year was 1998, and it proved to be the most disastrous year in Hilda’s witchy existence. It all started innocently enough. Hilda decided to hold a grand Halloween party for all the villagers. Little did they know what awaited them.

Curze 2 the botw

Little did they know what awaited them. As the day of the party approached, Hilda frantically began preparing her haunted house, complete with creepy decorations and eerie sound effects. She planned to cast spells to create a genuinely terrifying experience for her guests.

Curze 2 the botw

The game really gives off the feeling of BOTW and it has my interest. If I loved BOTW, will this be a somewhat similiar experience?

Thanks for any feedback and cheers!

There's no counters when you block at the right moment, no shield surfing, your weapons don't break, more story driven, DLC isn't weak and you get to build your own kingdom. The only con I can think of is the lack of Zelda's beautiful bu- Sheikah Slate. Don't judge me ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I'd say it's similar to BOTW in terms of the tier-above level of high fantasy theme it gives off, and with the level of charm and polish it has.

. but really, they're very different games.
I still think you would enjoy this game, it's hard not to enjoy.

I'd compare BOTW to a sandbox RPG and NNK2 to an ARPG, the closest honest comparison this game feels like is a mix of Level-5's previous games, Dark Cloud and Rogue Galaxy.

When you bring up Rogue Galaxy the game does have that weirdly same feel as far as gameplay, more to it though. Never played Dark Cloud.

Rogue Galaxy had a similar stop-start pacing, youll be running through a dungeon or on the larger map, battle will commense and break that running pace, then it will quickly end and you go back.
Rogue galaxy didn't have the city building or stronger high fantasy rpg elements that dark cloud had. NNK2 does.
Dark cloud had an awesome weapon synthesis system which was a bit like training familiars in NNK1. Sadly that isn't in this game

I hated zelda but am loving this game. Just because they have a cell shaded art style in a fantasy-esque setting doesnt equate to them being the same game.

Combat is simple and fun. Zelda has a better skill curve to the fighting, but this games still solid. This game also has better skills IMO. zelda, the magnets, bombs and crap were dumb. Basically what should have been dungeon unlocked items handed to you effortlessly. This game you at least earn the skills and gear more to my liking.

This game has better visuals by a landslide. None of the switch blurry haze/fog and horrible AA on all its games.

The story so far is also significantly ahead of what zelda produced. This is a story driven game so this is really important it feels so good and makes you want to play and learn more.

TLDR:
Steam has a 2 hour refund period. Buy the game, try it, either like it and play more or refund it. No one can tell you if you will enjoy the game or not. Only if they like it, and everyone likes different things for different reasons.

The disastrous witch 1998

Hilda's intentions were good, but her execution was disastrous. On the night of the party, villagers arrived dressed in their scariest costumes, excited to experience the horrors of Hilda's haunted house. However, as they stepped inside, chaos ensued. Instead of casting spells to create harmless illusions, Hilda accidentally unleashed real monsters from another realm. The creatures wreaked havoc throughout the village, terrorizing the residents In her desperate attempt to fix the situation, Hilda summoned her magical broomstick and took to the skies to hunt down the escaped monsters. Unfortunately, her flying skills were far from perfect, and she crashed into the village's only bakery, causing a massive explosion that destroyed half the village. The disaster didn't end there. While trying to control the broomstick, Hilda accidently knocked out the power lines, plunging the rest of the village into darkness. Chaos continued to reign as people stumbled around in the dark, trying to escape the monsters and find shelter. The disastrous witch had singlehandedly turned their peaceful village into a nightmare. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Hilda managed to round up the wayward monsters and put an end to the chaos she had inadvertently caused. As the last monster was banished, Hilda watched the sunrise with a heavy heart. She realized that her desire to bring joy and excitement to her village had resulted in devastation and fear. From that day on, Hilda vowed to use her powers responsibly and only for the greater good. She spent countless hours making amends and helping the villagers rebuild their lives. The disastrous witch had learned her lesson, and the village of Bloomington would never forget the events of that fateful year, 1998..
