The Occult Tarot deck is a unique and intriguing collection of tarot cards that delves deep into the realm of the occult and mysticism. This particular deck is known for its intricate and mysterious artwork, as well as its connection to esoteric traditions and practices. The term "occult" refers to hidden or secretive knowledge, often associated with spiritual or supernatural phenomena. The Occult Tarot deck incorporates these elements into its imagery and symbolism, providing a rich and enigmatic experience for those who use it. Each card in the Occult Tarot deck has its own meaning and interpretation, drawing from various occult traditions such as astrology, numerology, and alchemy. The cards depict a range of archetypal figures, mythical creatures, and symbolic objects that convey deep truths and insights about the human experience.

TYLER THE CREATOR - GRAMMY PERFORMANCE
Working under the direction of Drew Best at Immenent and Alex Reardon of Silent House productions, I was tasked with designing and animating a virtual set extension for Tyler, the Creator’s explosive 2020 GRAMMY Performance of EARFQUAKE / NEW MAGIC WAND, at which he took home the GRAMMY for Best Rap Album for his IGOR album. The physical set, designed by Silent House, depicted a neighborhood street lined with pastel colored houses. During the performance, the set would crack apart and spew flames. My task was to create a mapped animation to extend the set and enhance the effect with added VFX.
002// THE CONCEPT
The performance opens on a colorful neighborhood street where Tyler is accompanied by a quartet including Boyz II Men and Charlie Wilson. The mood quickly changes to a dark, stormy environment. As the earth-rattling bass hits, the street cracks open and the scene begins to self-destruct. Powerlines spark, structures fall, and basically everything explodes as a fiery abyss opens in the middle of the street. At the finale moment, Tyler drops off the backside of the physical set, into the virtual fiery pit.
003// THE Process
I began recreating the houses and the street in Cinema4D using the physical set as a reference. There were a number of unknowns including the final placement of the set in relation to the screen and the camera angles that would be used on show day, so I created the scene in 1 point perspective with plenty of breathing room for ease of remapping and flexibility for the live cameras. Another unknown was the actual audio since Tyler was creating a bespoke mashup for the performance. So I created a series of looping layers and musical moments that could be arranged and composited in After Effects so that we would have the ability to remix as needed as those details solidified.

Reviews for "Navigating Relationships with the Help of the Oculty Tarot Deck"
1. Samantha - 1/5 stars - I was really excited to try out the Occuly tarot deck, but I was thoroughly disappointed. The artwork on the cards was messy and unclear, making it difficult to interpret the meanings. The guidebook included with the deck was also poorly written and provided very limited explanations. Overall, I found this to be a complete waste of my money and would not recommend it to anyone looking for an accurate and visually appealing tarot deck.
2. James - 2/5 stars - As an avid tarot card reader, I was highly disappointed with the Occuly tarot deck. The card stock used for the deck feels flimsy and cheap, not what I expected for the price I paid. Additionally, the symbolism and imagery on the cards were vague and lacked depth. I found it hard to connect with the readings I performed using this deck, and ultimately opted to go back to using my old one. I believe there are much better tarot decks available on the market that offer clearer artwork and higher quality materials.
3. Emily - 2.5/5 stars - I have mixed feelings about the Occuly tarot deck. While I appreciate the unique and edgy design of the cards, I felt that they were too dark and unsettling for my taste. The artwork on some of the cards was also a bit confusing, making it difficult for me to understand the intended meanings. Although the guidebook was helpful in providing some explanations, I found myself relying on other tarot resources more often than not. Overall, I think this deck might appeal to those who enjoy a darker aesthetic, but it wasn't the right fit for me.
