Postupně vyšetřovatelé vyslýchají manželku Lauru a její sestru Rebeccu a zdá se, že Laura něco tají. Telefonát s ní přivede detektivy na Nilesovu současnou adresu, kde před domem stojí auto, odcizené na místě únosu. Nalezený lístek stejně jako fakt, že Laura musela mrtvého znát z práce, jasně svědčí proti ní.
