My magical Santa experience happened a few years ago when I was about six years old. It was a cold December evening, and my family had decided to visit a nearby shopping mall to see Santa Claus. I was incredibly excited because I had never met Santa in person before. As we entered the mall, I could feel the festive atmosphere all around. The air was filled with Christmas music, and the sparkling lights on the enormous Christmas tree mesmerized me. The line to meet Santa was long, and it felt like an eternity before it was finally our turn.
But I didn’t give my friend a hard “no” on the costume. There’s a reason dressing up as a witch has appealed to generations of feminists. The witch is the scariest, oldest female monster. She is angry rather than agreeable, uncontrollable rather than submissive. She can be disgusting or unapologetically sexual, or sexual and still unavailable, or simply old. She can be everything that women are instructed never to be.
In short, the archetypal image of the witch may be a mix of anti-woman and anti-Jewish stereotypes that were used to justify the torture and murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent people for hundreds of years, and people are still being killed for the same accusation today, although the victims and cultural associations vary. Jews and witches have always been linked in the European imagination; Witches Sabbaths, the nighttime gatherings where witches were said to meet and copulate with the Devil, were also referred to as Witches Synagogues.
The line to meet Santa was long, and it felt like an eternity before it was finally our turn. When it was my turn, I walked nervously towards Santa's cozy corner. He had a kind smile on his face and was dressed in his traditional red and white suit.
Stylish Witch Halloween Costume
It’s that time of year again. The time for all the ghosts and ghouls to come out and play, and I can’t contain my excitement. At the start of October, I began planning out Halloween outfits for myself for some of the adult Halloween parties that my husband and I will be attending this year. And then for our little man, I decided that instead of a family Halloween costume, he’ll be doing a group costume with his cousin’s since he’ll be trick-or-treating with them this year.
My husband decided to just throw on his Tigger onesie from our couple’s Halloween costume that we did last year, and as much as I love a good couple’s costume, I decided that he was going to be a lone ranger and I was going to go with a stylish Halloween costume like I usually do. Previously, I put together a stylish werewolf Halloween costume and a stylish Vampire costume. I loved putting together those looks especially when it came down to the makeup, but this year, I wanted to step back from a fully makeup look and create something that focused on the aesthetic of the persona that I wanted to take on – the witch.
I knew I was going to be a witch this year. I had thought about last year, bouncing back and forth between being a stylish witch and trying to do some cosplay with a Selene from Underworld look. At the end of it all, I decided that this year I was going to put together a stylish witch costume for Halloween.
When I first begin thinking how I was going to put together my witch costume, I started with considering of what fashion pieces would work well and what pieces would bring this modern witch costume to life without looking like it was too much. The aim for my costume was to embody the witchy aesthetic that has a sultry vibe to it without creating a super sexy witch costume. When it comes to my stylish Halloween costumes, I like to keep it fashionable without going too sexy. As I looked for inspiration, I bounced between finding Wicked Witch of the West looks and also some Glenda the Good Witch looks (which I will say that I adore the pink witch look), but after all was said and done, I ended up putting together an easy witch costume that you can DIY yourself easily this Halloween.
He greeted me warmly and asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I suddenly became unsure of what to say. I had been dreaming of various toys and presents, but when faced with Santa, I went blank. Santa patiently waited for me to gather my thoughts and reassured me that I could take my time. After a few moments, I finally blurted out my wish. Santa listened attentively and promised to do his best to fulfill my desire. He handed me a small candy cane as a token of our meeting, and I thanked him with a big smile. Leaving Santa's presence, I felt a magical excitement coursing through my veins. It was as if meeting Santa had made anything possible. The rest of the evening went by in a blur as my family and I enjoyed the festive decorations and holiday cheer in the mall. In the following weeks, leading up to Christmas, I couldn't stop thinking about my encounter with Santa. I eagerly looked forward to Christmas morning, wondering if my wish would come true. On Christmas day, as I woke up to the sound of joyful laughter and excitement, I rushed downstairs to see what Santa had left for me. Underneath the beautifully decorated Christmas tree, I found exactly what I had wished for. It was a truly magical experience, and it left a lasting impression on my young mind. Since that day, I have always believed in the magic of Christmas and the wonders that can happen when you hold onto the spirit of Santa Claus. Although I have grown older and no longer believe in Santa Claus as a literal figure, I still hold onto the enchantment of that encounter. It reminds me of the joy and innocence of childhood and the power of believing in something beyond what we can see. The magical Santa experience near me remains one of my cherished memories. It taught me the importance of hope, kindness, and the magic of the holiday season. Each year, as Christmas approaches, I am reminded of that special encounter, and it fills my heart with warmth and joy..
