Description

It’s Rachel Morgan’s ultimate adventure . . . and anything can happen in this final book in the New York Times bestselling Hollows series.

Rachel Morgan has come a long way from her early days as an inexperienced bounty hunter. She’s faced vampires and werewolves, banshees, witches, and soul-eating demons. She’s crossed worlds, channeled gods, and accepted her place as a day-walking demon. She’s lost friends and lovers and family, and an old enemy has unexpectedly become something much more.

But power demands responsibility, and world-changers must always pay a price. Rachel has known that this day would come—and now it is here.

To save Ivy’s soul and the rest of the living vampires, to keep the demonic ever after and our own world from destruction, Rachel Morgan will risk everything. . . .

These individuals, often referred to as "ngangas," act as intermediaries between the supernatural world and the Azande people. They possess the ability to communicate with spirits and provide guidance, healing, and divination. The ngangas are consulted for important decisions, such as marriage, illness, or conflicts. They use various rituals and techniques, such as drumming, trance, and herbal medicines, to connect with the spirits and seek their wisdom. Magic is another aspect of Azande culture that is widely practiced. Magic is believed to be a way of harnessing supernatural forces to influence events or protect oneself. Azande individuals may use magic to improve their chances of success in hunting, farming, or even personal relationships. It is often performed through charms, rituals, and spells. Magic can also be used defensively to counteract the effects of witchcraft or protect against evil spirits. In Azande society, the belief in witchcraft, oracles, and magic intertwines with various social, political, and economic aspects of life. Witchcraft accusations are sometimes used as a means of resolving conflicts or asserting power. Oracles serve as mediators, providing advice and predictions that shape decision-making processes. Magic, on the other hand, offers a sense of control and protection in an unpredictable world. Overall, witchcraft, oracles, and magic hold significant cultural significance within the Azande community. These beliefs and practices shape their worldview, social interactions, and understanding of the supernatural. Despite the modern influences and changes, witchcraft, oracles, and magic continue to be an integral part of Azande identity and way of life..
