CSUSB Black Scholars Program to host inaugural Black Girl Magic Summit on April 12
The free summit will feature discussions on topics that include self-love, self-care, healthy relationships, financial awareness and women’s health.
Published April 5, 2023 The theme of the Black Girl Magic Summit is “Sis, let me pour into you.”With the goal of strengthening a sense of belonging, empowerment and uplifting Black women, the Black Scholars Program at Cal State San Bernardino will host its first Black Girl Magic Summit on Wednesday, April 12.
The free summit will showcase the programmatic goal of support and care for Black women and support for all ages. The event will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Santos Manuel Student Union North Conference Center.
With the theme, “Sis, let me pour into you,” the Black Scholars Program will host the campus community, the surrounding communities, as well as students at San Bernardino and Riverside county high schools and community colleges, said program director Ashley Howard.
The summit will feature discussions on topics that include self-love, self-care, healthy relationships, financial awareness and women’s health. About 250 attendees are expected with volunteers contributing to breakout sessions and networking opportunities, Howard said.
The Black Scholars Program provides academic support and promotes persistence toward degree attainment for CSUSB program participants. The program is part of the Black Faculty, Staff and Student Association.
