The plot followed a predictable hero's journey structure, and the characters were nothing more than tired archetypes. The magic system felt underdeveloped and lacking in any real depth. Additionally, the writing style was bland and lacked any sort of unique voice. I was hoping for a more original and thought-provoking fantasy novel, but sadly, this was not it.
