Unearthing the Ancient Treasures of Egypt in AC Origins: Curse of the Pharaohs

By admin

Assassin's Creed Origins: Curse of the Pharaohs is an expansion pack for the action-adventure video game Assassin's Creed Origins. Developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft, this expansion pack takes players on a thrilling journey through ancient Egypt as they uncover the mysteries behind the curse of the pharaohs. In this expansion, players take on the role of Bayek, the protagonist from the main game, who embarks on a new quest to investigate a curse that is plaguing the pharaohs and their tombs. The story is set four years after the events of the main game, and as Bayek explores the mystical afterlife known as the Duat, he encounters famous pharaohs such as Ramses the Great and Nefertiti. The Curse of the Pharaohs expansion introduces a new region called Thebes, which is a vast and detailed open-world map that players can freely explore. Thebes is filled with new quests, side missions, and activities, providing players with hours of additional gameplay.

Magic Solution & the Cleanest Oven on the Block

A few years ago, I shared my best tips for cleaning your oven (without the self-clean button) and the recipe for my magic solution on Instagram. I even wrote about it in my book.

It’s my most requested life hack. What does that say about me? Don’t answer that.

Let’s chat ovens and why they should be clean, then we’ll get to the magic.

For starters, never ever, ever, ever use the self-clean button on your oven. Those are words straight from my oven repairman. That button heats your oven to over 500 degrees for a prolonged amount of time, increasing the likelihood that you’ll fry the motherboard that powers your oven. Thus, breaking it. So, feel free to push the button if you’re in the market for a new one. Otherwise, keep reading.

Having a clean/ish oven also prevents the chance it will catch on fire, due to debris left over from previous baking sessions. Ask me how I know.

While I’m no oven cleaning expert with a degree in cleanliness, I do cook for eight people on the regular and I run a tight ship. Here are the steps I recommend.

  1. Water/vinegar solution (1 tsp. per 1 c. water)
  2. Magic solution (1 c. water, 1 T. castile soap*, 10 drops of essential oil, optional)
  3. Oxiclean
  4. Baking soda
  5. Old towels
  6. Scotchbrite sponge
  7. Razorblade
  8. Hand-held vacuum

*You can find castile soap on Amazon or in the organic/health food aisle at the grocery store

  1. Turn off your oven. It should be completely cool, prior to cleaning.
  2. Remove your oven grates and vacuum out the big debris with a hand-held vacuum.
  3. Place old towels in the bottom of a bathtub, lay your grates on top. Fill the tub with hot water and 1 c. of Oxiclean powder. Soak overnight or 8 hours, then scrub with a scotchbrite pad and rinse with water. Note: Steer clear of cast iron tubs because the Oxiclean can eat away at the finish.
  4. Spray the glass and inside of the oven with magic solution. Let sit for 15 minutes. You may need to repeat 2-3 times, depending upon how long it’s been since you cleaned your oven (never?!).
  5. Sprinkle baking soda for extra grit and get to scrubbing.
  6. I *sometimes* will use a razor blade on the glass of the oven (but never the glazed inside!) to scrape away caked on grease.
  7. Wipe clean and finish with a water/vinegar solution.

The first time is always the most painful. After that, we typically clean ours once a year (twice if it’s a pandemic) and the buildup isn’t nearly as bad.

Happy. Cooking. And, don’t forget to invite me over to dinner to show it off!

Reviews for "The Impact of AC Origins: Curse of the Pharaohs on the Assassin's Creed Mythology"

1. John - 2 stars - I was really disappointed with the "Curse of the Pharaohs" expansion for Assassin's Creed Origins. While the main game was fantastic and immersive, this DLC just fell flat for me. The story felt lackluster and didn't really add anything meaningful to the overall narrative. The gameplay was also a letdown, with repetitive missions and a lack of new mechanics or challenges. Overall, it felt like a missed opportunity to expand upon an already promising game.
2. Sarah - 2 stars - I had high hopes for "Curse of the Pharaohs" as I thoroughly enjoyed Assassin's Creed Origins, but unfortunately, this expansion didn't live up to my expectations. The graphics and setting were impressive, but the story felt disjointed and failed to grab my attention. The missions were repetitive and lacked the depth and variety that made the main game so enjoyable. Additionally, the expansion didn't introduce any new gameplay elements that could have enhanced the experience. Overall, I found "Curse of the Pharaohs" to be a lackluster addition to an otherwise great game.
3. Michael - 3 stars - While I didn't dislike "Curse of the Pharaohs," I found it to be underwhelming compared to the main game of Assassin's Creed Origins. The expansion offered a beautiful setting and some interesting new enemies to face, but the missions felt repetitive and lacked the same level of immersion as the base game. The story, while attempting to be grand, ended up feeling convoluted and disconnected from the main plot. It was a decent addition, but not one that lived up to the high standards set by the main game.
4. Emily - 2 stars - "Curse of the Pharaohs" was a disappointment for me as a fan of Assassin's Creed Origins. The expansion promised a new and exciting adventure in ancient Egypt, but it ultimately felt like a rehash of the main game with a different skin. The missions were repetitive, the story was predictable, and there were no significant gameplay enhancements. It felt like a missed opportunity to offer something fresh and innovative, and I was left wanting more from this DLC. Overall, I would recommend skipping this expansion if you're looking for a truly captivating and enriching experience.
