But in a hat? Well I just don’t love the color yellow right up against my face. Maybe it’s because I’m drawn to the rusty orange of fall. Whether it’s a delicious crochet pumpkin or a crochet pumpkin coaster, I’m totally down for it.
So the first rendition of this cute crochet candy corn hat has a gold center and a rusty orange brim. It’s perfect for my fall walks with Winston pup and my hubs. That rust color reminds me of Winston’s puppy coat back when his Irish Setter lineage overshadowed his Poodle side:
And then as this cute little hat was waiting its photo op, in walks my son and daughter in law and my son is completely smitten with my candy corn hat.
And, of course, he needs one.. but in a traditional color way. We are going to Hallowe’en in Greenfield Village and we can wear the hats, we think.
So the day comes and the hats are perfect because even though our Michigan weather was in the sunny 80’s the week before, by the time event day rolls around it’s chilly and in the 50’s. The perfect fall day for a beautiful Candy Corn Crochet Hat.
And then halfway through the event, I realize I’m wearing the WRONG hat!
Yeah.. I can’t even make this up.
But no worries. An acrylic hat washes up very nicely in the washing machine and in a few days we’re all swapped out for the rest of the fall season!
